Update my beloved coffee table

Fifty years my dad took a thrift store table, reworked it and this is the result. I would like to update it. My style is eclectic. I thinking of colbalt blue hairpin legs that are 22" high. We do just about everything at our coffee table and I think the extra inches would it more functional for us. Any input would be appreciated sorry about the napping hubby.

I would not use hair pin legs. I think it would look awkward with what I want to call the sash, just under the table top. I would change for more bulky legs. I also think it would be better if the legs were a bit shorter.

first thought, how cute is your dad!

second,switch the S shaped art with the one on the far right end i think it will look better.

i think the hair pin legs would look great but i would probably opt for a dark bronze finish. you can always paint them later.

Do you have kids? I found a coffee table someone was getting rid of & sanded it (minimal not with a sander just paper), chalk painted the top and painted the legs white. I have it with a pretty bowl of colored chalk in my family room & the kids LOVE it! they write on it all the time as you can see (:

I'd leave the table just as it is. BTW-Bet your hubby just loves having that pic on the internet!

Thanks for all your comments. I'm still thinking hairpin legs but will look at the option of removing the sash. I will change the placement of prints behind the sofa.
