I am so tired of white subway tile in kitchens, but as we plan to remodel our 1914 kitchen with white (or light gray, I cannot decide!) shaker cabinets, I am torn about what we could use for a backsplash. We plan to do soapstone countertops and wood floors. What else could we use besides white subway tile that would not be too trendy and more classic. I hate that classic has become so trendy. I am so confused! As we remodel this house, we are updating with the traditional choices of the time period. We have beautiful greenish craftsman era tiles on our renovated fireplace and I love them, but I am not sure something like that would be a good choice for our kitchen.
