On pinkish brick, black, charcoal gray, navy blue, and hunter green would all look great! Congrats on the new house!

You have a very beautiful house!! Before doing any painting or choosing colors, I would remove the landscaping and get a new plan. Those " shaped" plants greatly detract from your lovely home.

I agree about the plants. I'm not a fan of severe shapes. I think they did that to avoid removing overgrown plants. I would love to paint the trim and maybe the brick eventually. I agree the door is very dark. Any suggestions?

Taupe (pinkish beige) would also be pretty on a pinkish brick.

@Digging, I think she just wants colors for the shutters and front door. But I agree, don't paint the brick itself!

I love the roof pitch, the balance of the architecture. The brick isn't the worst brick I've seen, with that said, I suggest doing a Google search of paint brick homes. There are some beautiful brick painted homes.
Another thought in painting brick ( neutral soft tones) is landscaping will really look great. I personally don't see lots wrong with the landscaping you have. I might suggest thinning out and giving a nice "hair cut" to some of the scrubs. With the wright paint color and that beautiful roof pitch... You have a charming French country home!
Word of caution on picking any neutral paint be it interior or exterior . Always buy paint from a paint store where they know what they are mixing. Stay away from any neutral
That leans to PINK under tones.

I love the brick and trim colors that you have now. Actually, I like all the colors.

I think charcoal is still too dark so I tried medium gray. I also recommend removing the shrubs in front of the porch. Ted is right about the paint visualizers. It would have done a better job than I did. They account for things like shadows and textures.

They are currently a dark green. The gray looks nice. I'll try to look at the SW visualizer. May try a grayish light green?

My husband and I were talking about those shrubs yesterday.

I'd let the shrubs gracefully overgrow and see how they look in a year when that works its way up the priority list. They are not as offensive as all that.

As for shutters... I must be the one to say that I'd remove them all and then see how much it's worth finding a new paint color! :) (I definitely prefer gone to the lighter gray/tan color!!)

I have to disagree with the comment to "stay away from all paint with pink undertones", if you are coordinating with something that has pink undertones in it. Colors clash when the undertones don't work together.

To me the house is a bit country French in style. For that reason I would not remove the shutters on the porch but I would remove them to the right and left where they have been placed on double windows. I think a grayed green would be nice.

I removed the shrubs because I think it is a mistake for anything to block the view of the beautiful porch.

I notice there is no path from the street or road to the front door.

this might be the norm in the area, but it would look nice if you have a path with some landscaping on each side of it leading to the street or road. people must enter through the rare of the house or garage.

what color is the brick mortar? I would look at that color for the shutters. the dark shutters and front door are confounded by the shade of the porch. thus, the front of the house seems like a very uninviting black hole. I agree that the the shutters from the each pair of double hung windows.

I would remove the shrubs in front of the porch and plant the ground cover that is in front of the shaped shrubs in front of the porch.

I think you have lots of space in front of your house for some trees and more landscaping.

given the space, you might consider a circular driveway in the future if you want people to use the frontdoor.

I love that green color on the front door pic. The front is very shady. There are 2 trees you can't see that shade the house. I haven't thought about just removing the shutters on the large windows, but I think that is a very good idea. The house does have a path that follows the shape of the beds and leads to the driveway. We have considered a circle drive,or some additional parking. I do want to remove the shrubs along the porch. They are way to large for where they are and add to the darkness of the house. The mortar is a gray color. I am going to get a sw fan deck and play around with colors tonight. The front door is so dark, you can barely see it from the street.

I love your home! The over-trimmed shrubs are unsightly, but as suggested before, let them grow out to be themselves. You may find that an occasional pruning is all that is needed in lieu of the current severe shearing.

Colour and shape are beautifully balanced. A white door with a generous surround would be a big help. I would also remove the shutters from the porch windows. Generous lamps on either side of the door would help.

are those shudders on both sides of the door or are rhey side lites?

I prefer no shutters, especially if you keep the current trim color.

Black or grey shutters would work better with lighter trim.

What part of the country are you in? I'm not sure why people recommend removing the shrubs. Very pretty house.

from observing the house and the landscape, the house has to be in the southern part of the US, possibly Mississippi.

I agree with Finally Home. The shrubs are formally clipped because the house is so symmetrical. A lovely graceful home. Pink is in fashion too!

We are in Mississippi. I think they clipped the shrubs so formally because they are too large for the space they are in, and didn't want to remove them. The landscape is mature, so I am planning on removing the round shrubs, and the tall rectangle shrubs and replacing with something softer like encore azaleas, and maybe a specimen tree on either side in front of the larger windows. The front yard is pretty shady and faces east. I am not a huge fan of the yellow trim. I had considered a whiter trim and black shutters. It gives the house a more classic look than French county by the pictures you posted. I do like that look too. Thank you all for the pics and suggestions!! I love hearing your ideas!!! Your landscaping ideas sound great. Shade plants like azaleas, rhododendron,, hydrangeas, and hostas should work great. I'm surprised that the previous owners did not plant any trees in the large yard.

There are actually 2 trees in the front. That pic is from the realtor site, and I think there is a strange lens that makes it look a lot larger than it really is. It is a nice size front yard, but there are 2 10-15 year old oak trees in the front. There are some hostas coming up around them, which I am excited about. I have also been pleasantly surprised with irises, daffodils, hyacinth, and daylilies are coming up now. I also think I see some mums and possibly some other lilly varieties coming up. Yea!
