So you would prefer your deck to appear to be plastic and not have texture that would prevent slipping?

Are you trying to go for a modern look? What is the beef with the wood grain - dirt getting in the grooves? In FL there are a lot of wood composite decks that don't have a lot of pronounced wood grain - but all of them have some type of pattern to give it interest. Like BevFlad, I would be concerned about the deck looking too much like plastic without some sort of pattern.

I agree with ksmac. I've been searching for a composite without the fake wood grain. Issues notwithstanding, the original Trex looked great... it was a textured composite that did not look like plastic or an attempt to emulate something that it is not - wood. Any ideas?

I was looking for the same thing. I like the old stuff, just matte material. Can't find it anywhere. I found out that if you flip the Trex Enhance grooved decking to its backside, it is exactly like the old material, no fake looking finish, just a matte texture. A Home Depot worker gave me the idea after looking at me like I'm crazy. I'm not sure if it needs the coat that is on the top to be weather proof, but it seems like it would work just like the old material. My only concern is that the seal on the normal top would trap moisture inside the material when flipped to the bottom. I assume it would void the warranty, I may try it anyway. Ideas?

Covertjapan - let me know if you end up installing this product - I like the fact that it is a consistent mono-chromatic material (looks more like slate) - not plastic trying to look like it is wood. I would prefer local distributorship rather than ordering from an out-of-state company, so I would be interested to hear your experience dealing with Calibamboo and how the costs compare to buying a composite decking locally.

have a striated deck i installed years ago which i love. It's plastic and acknowledges it. Can't find it now. Anyone know what it is.

I am very interested to hear if anyone else has thoughts on this. Like the original poster, I am trying to find decking that embraces it's true (un)nature - plastic, uniform, and engineered! I have used Cali-Bambo on my own home and also other projects that I have designed. It works and looks great. You can use it grooved side up or down for two different modern looks. Both are slip resistant. One point of note, due to composite nature of product, the 'boards' are quite heavy, I think more so than standard deck lumber.
