do you want to keep a traditional look or something more eclectic?

I am no pro, but I like the wrought iron. I just think there's not enough contrast between the iron and the body of the house. Have you considered highlighting it a bit more? Maybe someone here could photoshop a semblance of a darker bronze/dark grey/black? Just a thought.

Keep the wrought iron and go not quite black with the iron, maybe greyish. White for the body of the house. What a beauty!

Also looks as though a retaining wall like the one in the picture and regrading the front lawn could be of benefit.

You're right about the "iron work"- take it dark in the bronze family "Valspar- olive suede" to compliment the body of the house and pull the Browns out of the roof. It should be a main focus of the home.

Consider removing the shutters; paint the the inside flat part of the Windows Valspar sparkling sage and finish the door in Valspar Perfectstorm.

The iron is beautiful I would not remove, but I would paint t a dark grey or flat black to make it pop. White for the body of the home, a classic black or red door. Lovely home.

Reminds me of some old houses in Australia with the ornate wrought iron. I agree with roozen and ALA, play it up in a bronze or gray. Shutters in a teal color.

I love the picture that rocketjcat posted. Would you be up to removing your shutters, painting the window trim and wrought iron a black, dark bronze or dark gray?

@csch - I believe I want to keep a traditional look; I love eclecticism on other houses, but I'm a fan of traditional on my own with this particular design.

@rocketjcat - I love that picture, my fear (and a few have mentioned removing the shutters) is with dark shutters and dark iron (especially with the iron piece in the center of the house, that the entire house would take on a darker scheme than intended.

@BeverlyFlaDeziner - That's a beautiful picture and I love that design, and because I've seen so many like that, it's making me lean towards painting the iron white as well. One of my favorite things about the iron is that it casts a very detailed shadow against the house, but without that shadow, I'm afraid the detail will be washed out by the white on white.

@roozen - thank you so much, what would your recommendation be for the shutters with that color scheme?

@joy5390 - I've toyed with the idea of removing the shutters, but I think I would rather get the painting done and if I'm absolutely adamant about removing the shutters after, do it then. At that point, I know the body of the house won't change colors and removing the shutters and changing the iron would be simple in comparison to getting the entire house repainted.
