first of all, you shouldnt paint the mutton.

i would paint everything else except the doors, and then decide on them. i dislike when sashes or muntins are left on windows.

Painting everything white is really going to brighten up your house in a good way (in my opinion). But my question would be, are there other areas continuous with this space that you're planning to leave alone? It might look odd if only some of the trim is painted. On another note, that's a beautiful slab. Is it quartzite? Good luck with your project.

IF YOU PAINT, paint the muntins and the doors too .. the only thing I might leave is the wide knotty pine sort of perimeter / beam / where the ceiling lowers . . .up above echoing down below . . one thing to consider. But I can't recommend that without you thinking about how it is connected to everything .. your furniture, your window coverings, your rug tones and on and on. .

You have a very traditional style and the wood finishes are much more expensive and high end for that style .. Instead of changing all this, you might simply add some butcherblock or plank top to the island or another counter area of your new kitchen - I see two different kinds of cabinets .. why not take one area of the white and put wood on it .. wood and white and gray marble are fine and classic .. I would also consider not using the dark brown for contrasting cabinets .. it really does not go with your things and your house . .it is even sort of out . . but instead selecting a more natural wood tone or green gray - perhaps one shade deeper than your muntins and trim is now, but again, tying the kitchen back to what you have . . your furniture, your antiques ..
