I have a cupcake panel I need to make the braid border for. I am participating in The Longest Day Alheimers event and taking this project to a sewathon. I need to get all the braid pieces cut before the event so I don't have to haul all of my sewing room to the event. Ultimately this quilt is a gift for a wonderful baker. I am I starting to downsize the sewing room. I have some machines I don't use or need and they need to go to ultimately make room for a newer model.

Row by Row challenge is starting June 20 (ish). Quilters seem to like this challenge. Happy sewing to all.

The Shoo Fly quilt will be at the LQS, so will need to decide what's next. I have three choices: finish up my black & white Orange Peel (that I set aside because I got stuck), start a Pinwheel Sampler quilt, or play with the May lotto blocks when they arrive.

Sharon - what is a container?

I have stopped setting goals for each month because I usually change my mind about what I want to do. I have several new projects I want to start including a baby quilt for DD's baby who is due this week. She still hasn't decided what she wants me to make. I think she wants an "Under the Sea" theme. This will be hung in the nursery.

I did buy 2 panels to make a couple small quilts for Sami. She is a big fan of Peppa Pig and also loves Shopkins. I'm thinking I will just layer them and quilt the panels. I'm also working on my "Curve It Up" quilt as a BOM.

It's actually my large storage container full of batteries, flashlights, wet wipes, etc. Since there's a few days notice for hurricanes, I don't put in food until closer to the time of evacuation. Jugs of water are put in the van. Important papers, ID's, cash, etc are kept with me. Plans are made to evacuate to DD's if need be and if she has to evacuate, too, we'll all head out of state to her cabin in GA if we have too. Somewhere in there, my machine, quilts, tops, projects and fabric will be in the van.........some things are more important than others. :-)

I have not been making goals since work tends to change them more than not. I am working on putting the blocks together for my Alliatari (sp) quilt and also working on hand applique on a baby quilt for my cousin. I have a good friend getting married in November, so I am trying to decide which quilt I want to make for the couple. Other than the wedding quilt, I do not have any deadlines for any of my projects.

Sharon, I knew you live in FL but didn't realize you live in an evacuation area. When we lived in Tampa we were about one block inside an evacuation area because of a nearby creek that emptied out into the bay. It was a pain. But let me warn you - DON'T go on the interstate if there is a mandatory evacuation. They won't let you off unless it's OK'd by the powers that be. I haven't sewn for 2 months. Too busy in the yard before it gets so hot I can't stand it anymore, which is just about here. I also would have to clean up the sewing room, it's a horrible mess. Also I would have to wash some fabric. I still have a top done and waiting, just have to do the dreaded sandwich and quilt it.

We live on the West side of US19 which makes it an evacuation zone. We've had mandatory evacuation once in almost 20 years and we went to DD's house which is 10 miles from us inland. She ended up having more damage than we did during that time. Water was 'driven' through their brick house. Between her MIL, who was also there, and me, we were spinning water out of towels for hours. Now, they spray the brick every summer with something that waterproofs it. Another time we had a big tree come down during the storm and we lost electricity so had to leave for about 4 days. We'd come back during the day and run the generator for the freezer and fridge. (I don't like doing those sandwiches either.)

Like so many other Florida folks, we are beginning to pay a bit closer attention to the weather and hurricane/storm preparedness. ...just paying closer attention, at this point, tho, and not doing much. You have to make sure you have plenty of wine and coffee (and an old pot to perk on the gas grill!). and some hand sewing, in case there is no power. Regardless, I have six placemats that I started and would like to finish, along with the June lotto blocks - fabric is washed, ironed and ready now. And perhaps start a chair blankie that I am thinking about making for a friend? Not real goals - just thoughts.

I don't have any pressing goals just some things on the back burner. I'm trying to work on some cross-stitch quilt top squares that my mom had started before she died. I'd like to finish what she started - but needlework is not my favorite so a little goes a long way. I have 4 more 16" blocks to finish then of course figure out how to pull them all together into something - maybe a display piece - just not sure. Other than that - my goal is to stay out of the fabric store and quit shopping for fabric on line. I'm running out of room in my little corner of the world.

I joined the "Finish Along" this January. Each quarter you list projects you anticipate finishing by the end of that quarter. If it doesn't work out, you can move it to the next quarter. I find it keeps me thinking about my proposed finishes. At the end of the quarter, you publish your "finishes" and for each one, you get your name entered in about 25 draws. It is fun and an incentive to get things done. I am a bit off target this quarter with yard work and summer activities. I am ahead on my charity quilts so that is good and maybe a few smaller items.

Hope to finish the project on the table right now and the get the second sampler quilt sandwiched and quilted. I ordered some flannel from JAF when on sale last week to use as backings. It is in the washer/dryer now.

We are flying to NH this coming weekend for youngest grandson's high school graduation. But since both DH and I are not feeling well, it may not be a good experience. Hope we both bounce back soon. Like now!!

I've got to have the graduation quilt I started on Fri done by the 25th. Blocks are pieced, now have to sew them together. I have a wall hanging sandwiched. So if I get both of those done, I will be very pleased. I want to get the room painted where the wall hanging will go, so that may spur me on to call someone.

How is everyone doing? I want to get to the post office today to get some tops mailed off and then figure out a tongue for the puppy quilt. I plan to have DH draw one for me. I include him in my quilting when I can. Besides, he's the family artist. :-)

I see I didn't set any goals for this month. :) But, I did finally finish my friend's clergy stole. She will get it this coming weekend - I hope she likes it! Yesterday I worked on a group quilt - I am piecing the top and quilting it. I got a lot more done than I thought I would so maybe I can finish it this month.

I ended up really liking the June block so I may make some more just to practice. :) I'd also like to get started on the July block just so I have time. I want to look through my fabric and see which ones look good together for a possible future quilt :)

I bought a tie pattern and I want to make a tie for my husband for Father's Day. So those are my quilting/sewing goals for the month. :)
