On to the next room!

The adjoining formal living room is done (thank you all for the help there). I am happy with that look. So, now I need to do something with this diningroom. I just painted it accessible beige. I know it's a basic color but I like it so that and the table are staying. I'm wanting to add a rug, curtains & art. I have regretted buying these wooden chairs instead of fabric but I'm hoping that once the rest of the room is done, maybe I will be ok with them. Any decor suggestions?

Hi, lots of possibilities here. The chairs could be recovered to add some colour. Or you could add two fabric head chairs to mix it up. For a rug a sisal or something with blue to continue colour from other room. Since the one window is off centered i would think curtains close to wall colour. For art I suggest a set of prints on each side of doorway, and a larger piece on window wall.

I don’t think you have space for a rug you need IMO 30” all around the table for arug and how it looks to me the rug would go right to the doorway and create a tripping hazard some art for sure and maybe one wall painted a color from the art work

I think a more elegant chandelier would look great. :)

I agree with comments here. I would like to pull in some navy with a rug & art. Maybe I could just replace the end chairs with fabric? I taped out 8x10 for an area rug. Does that look like the right size?

O.k., I am going out on a limb here. I would paint the ceiling in that pretty blue color that is in the living room. Crown molding in white, printed drapes and coordinating rug, picking up some of the red in the living room. New chandelier in gold, an orb perhaps. And, of course, art work or mirrors. Botanicals perhaps in a grouping, or mirrors in a grouping.

Continued...you could use two gold lanterns as a chandelier, you could also do a grouping of plates on the wall. Or, you could recover the chair seats. So much you can do but I would try and make it look larger and more elegant.

Cheryld, Love those ideas. I am not brave enough to paint the ceiling but the other ideas sound great. :)

not nuts about rugs in dining rooms, but if you like. how about original art, lots out there to choose from, less expensive than those prints, go to Saatchiart and etsy. can we recover the chair cushions? gives us color, and easier to clean - take a look at spoonflower. finally can we up the ante on the chandelier?

skp0001-I love the distressed rugs! Would that one tie in with the chairs in the adjacent room?

havingfun, I have kids who are messy eaters so I've always been against rugs in the DR too, but I feel like there's SO much wood in here that a rug would help. I will look at art. Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, the chandelier can absolutely go!

Here is a suggestion for finishing the room. The current chandelier is more suited for a kitchen IMO so I have changed it. I like that you have all wood chairs. Hate that Host and Hostess chair concept.
