Porch, wrap around

I'm not a builder but I think your roofline is too low for a covered porch. A covered porch will also make the inside of your home considerably darker. Maybe replacing the walkway and adding a seating patio area around the door and front of the house to under the smaller high window would be better.

The low roofline is my concern, as well. I don't have a vision of what we could possibly do to incorporate the front of the house with the existing deck area with the lower roofline.

could you build something off the (right) side, with a walkway around the front? also, I'd do a firepit in back, I think, as hanging out in the evening often makes you want a bit more privacy...

Why not a nice deck with a fabulous umbrella and make the deck big so you can set the BBQ out there and it will become a great place for entertaining.

You could easily pour a concrete slab and add a stand alone pergola and where you have the direct sun coming in you could add some lattice to help block the sun. Also for seating you could do bench seating.

There are a lot of reasons why a porch wouldn't be the best solution. Given that you're considering so many different options, I'd suggest talking to a landscape designer to help you sort out exactly what it is you want.

Is there software that will show you different ideas?

I think there are a lot of components you have to consider in regards to roof line, foundation requirements, your walkway, etc. and I would be tempted to have a few professionals give you advice. It shouldn't cost to have someone quote - usually free and they will bring up the pros and cons of each idea and your budget. Then they will do a rendition to help with visualization.
