Too high. One foot should work, but have you asked your electrician if he can shorten the extra rod if you want something in between?

Darn! I was hoping someone would say they were fine even though I know they aren't. It just means more work needed from my electrician to fix the mistake. But I'll never be able to stop looking at them and thinking they're too high if we don't fix them...

If you plan on dancing in the island they may be a little low . . .

The bottom of the pendants should be 30" above the countertop. Yours look to be much higher.

IMO over such a small island if they are hung much lower you will be hitting them with your head

They seem a bit high. My rule is that they should be just above the top of your head when standing in front of the island. For the average person this would equate to around 33" above the counter top. We always test this with the client. The fixtures you have appear to be on a fixed rod, are there additional rods or sections that will allow you to adjust the height?

Yes much higher. Need to change the height.

We have a pole that will add a foot. The only issue is making the electrician backtrack his work and then paying him more for it:( But I'm going to do it because the height now will never stop bothering me

Too high. Simple. Get electrician back and try between 30-33" above countertop. Lean in over island and make sure you or other family members don't hit them.

Just hope the electrician left enough slack wire tucked up in the junction box to accommodate adding another extension rod.

He didn't unfortunately. Because it was done to code. There's 6" and not a foot, and one foot would get us approx 30" from the counter. If he could rewire the entire thing, that might be our only option.

Maribel - 6" is better than the current height. This just drives me crazy. These electricians don't care and they SHOULD KNOW. This isn't rocket science. Every one of these they hang should be roughly that distance, depending on the height of the family and the width of the countertop. Get what you can. Did they hang them without your permission? If so, order new ones and have them hung right and make them pay for it. Sorry, this just gets my goat! That is why you have to be on site every day. Maybe they are perfectly fine folks and just didn't know. Idk, but darn.
