Neutrals, soft tones. Need to keep the sage from the dining room in mind. Don't plan on painting the walls, and want to keep the curtains. the two rooms have matching curtains.

Will you try turning the rug in front of the fireplace and placing the couch across from the fireplace? Put the love seat in front of the window and place the chair beside the fireplace where the cabinet is now. OR is that chair a favorite place for tv viewing?

Take down the art on the tv wall and post a pic of the wall without the two pieces there. They just seem to compete with the tv and only add more straight lines to the space.

I do like the cabinet, and will help find another place for it once new pics are posted. Maybe remove small items from the mantel, too.

I agree with above - right now there is no walk way through your living room to dining room. I would actually suggest less furniture if possible. I think a lighter coloured rug, smaller more rectangle shaped coffee table or two small tables and smaller end tables would be nice.

Do you need to have the recliner? Right now you have too much furniture in the room. There is no good way to enter your seating area so the room is not very inviting. You might want to try turning the rug, without knowing the size of the rug and room it is hard to say for sure if it will be big enough. The furniture is all going. I should have mentioned that I plan to buy smaller scaled furniture, I already purchased another cabinet and rug (but can return if necessary).Not sure if the rug will be too busy. I also have this buffet that I don't know whether to keep or replace. Mirror and lamp also not sure about (they can also be returned)

Just noticed the mantel, too.....nice and love the silver working together. I might scoot the one piece over a bit so it is further from the edge.

Lol, funny you should say that because all my gloves and stuff are in there :) I will upload a picture of the rug the other way when my husband comes home to move the furniture.

Hubby is not going to be happy with how you spent your time this afternoon and having to move furniture. LOL Happy Hour first!!!

Will it work to get the front feet/legs of the couch on the rug, too?

And is there a way for the loveseat to NOT have both the side tables and lamps? Maybe keep the one by the couch and can the other go on the other side of the couch so the chair can also use it? Run the cord under the couch maybe? I think that makes the chair feel more a part of the space and it makes the window wall not so full. I realize you are getting new things, but this works for now, anyway.

I would have to move the rug away from the fireplace more to fit the sofa feet on it. I was thinking about getting rid of one of the end tables and replacing it with a floor lamp.

We are not talking much space to move the couch....just the front feet a bit on the rug to make all the furniture grounded in the room. Otherwise, the couch looks like it is floating. Does that even make sense? LOL

Love floor lamps, but want to suggest to make sure there is a space for everyone that sits down to put down a drink or a book. A flat surface for that is just nice to have.

I would do a sectional with one comfy chair....I would layer all neutrals and have fun adding some navy blue pillows into your space..

The only thing that would bother ME would be both larger pieces of furniture and their orientation with the tv if they were facing each other.....but some people like to lie down and watch and the tv is not on when company is over.

Here's your layout with sectional, chair, coffee table, console table & two chests on either side of fireplace. I have turned your rug so all items are on the rug.

I would 86 that blue chest and purchase two matching chests.

I really don't think the large Buffet/Dresser is good for your space seems to heavy on that wall....I would find a lower lighter accent piece...maybe a large sofa type table with two small ottomans stored below that can be used in the space when entertaining for extra seating...still can do a accent mirror and lamp. Love your rug very nice!!

Geez no bookcases on the sides of the FP. Just more to arrange and more to dust.

The triple dresser is really not the right item for the entry. Too large and bulky.

They can be very budget friendly and really bring a lot to a space...paint the wall of the fireplace a beautiful off white and flank fireplace with gold bookcases...gorgeous!

Although bookshelves would look nice, I HATE to dust, so these are out of the question. I considered the matching chests before, but worried about looking to matchy-matchy. Now I'm reconsidering. I'm also undecided on the buffet. It does fit the space perfectly, but has such a heavy feel. I would like something lighter, but do need the drawers for storage.
