I'm by no means an expert. We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen from wall to wall, and I can see a bit of my kitchen in yours. Our kitchens look about the same size. I love the cabinets. I don't know what kind ofnshape they are in, but I'd keep them if they are in decent shape.

Here's what I'd do if I had the money.

Remove the dishwasher for now.
Moved the arch doorway if you can 2 to 2-1/2 feet to the right, or even 18" if you can and build short wall where angled cabinet is
Bring angled cabinets to new wall - square, and put dishwasher on right side of sink where angle used to be
Remove the cooktops and ovens and replace with a range where the LH cooktop is roughly.
Remove the wall fan and put a hood over the new range, with a 1' cabinet on the LH side of the range and cabinet uppers to the corner and then to the window.

After much thought, we decided to move our doorway in our kitchen about 1' and it opened up all sorts of new possibilities. We are relocating our range from where your angled cabinets are, to where your ovens are. Our kitchen is 12' x 15' and the doorways are about the same as yours

The electrical has some issues. A modern kitchen has alot more outlets, GFCI protected of course. Not to mention that a modern kitchen has at least seven dedicated circuits. Two circuits for the outlets, one each for the range, refrigerator, disposal, dishwasher, and microwave. You will probably end up adding a subpanel or a new electrical panel. Definately not the pretty stuff, but definately a required element of a kitchen remodel on an older home.

I actually LOVE your kitchen. :) you could embrace the vintage I'd keep the cabinets, perhaps repaint a different color. Replace flooring. The wall tile looks a little dingy, and with the electrical issues, I'd probably rip it out, redo the electrical, and add open shelving.

New pulls, too.

I kind of like your kitchen, too. I would put shelves up wherever possible, but not above the cooktop, natch. Above the cooktop you could hang your fry pans. By all means, feel free to remove the wallpaper. Take your fan cover off and have it chromed, make it a feature! Replace your hinges and pulls and knobs with white so they'll blend in. When you can afford it, replace your double ovens. Hang in there, your kitchen will be retro in a few years and it will be right in style :))

This one is a challenge, no doubt. It looks like it could be 10 feet by 10 feet. The double cooktop is ... unusual. Do the appliances work?

Do you have photos of the other two sides of the room and a floor plan with measurements? Have you settled on a budget yet?

Do you think you will need two ovens and all those gas cooktop outlets? Perhaps you could gain storage & bench space by streamlining those areas. The dishwasher needs re-locating, it's impeding your entry way and too far away to be practical. If the cupboards are in good shape, paint & hardware will pretty things up. Good luck!

cperry84, if it were mine, with a wide open budget, in addition to updating wiring and whatever else is needed for safety, I'd probably be looking into removing walls and relocating major components to make better work and traffic flow, depending on what's beyond the four walls.
