Double Throw Double Pole Switch Confusion

last modified: 10 years ago

Hi everyone, thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I am making an art project where I want a viewer to be able to use a toggle switch to turn on a light in one box then flip the switch and turn on a light in another box (with the first light going out). I would also like there to be a neutral off position. So having read and watched a bunch of things to try and figure this out I think I need a On-Off-On Toggle switch. So a 6 pin Double throw double pole. Wiring this is where I am confused. Would I simply connect the lights to each end of the switches 6 pins and the power to the 2 center pins? Sorry for the newby electronic lingo. Here is a really quick, terrible sketch:

Also, this will be in a gallery for about 2 months so I would prefer the lights don't get too hot if they are used a lot during the day. Any recommendations here? Thanks again!
