Here's is my favorite rug

I think it would look nice to have the walls the color of the off white on your carpet pick. The other items in the room would/could pop out.

That rug, your A1 choice, is wonderful. Match the wall color to the lightest color in the rug (ivory, cream). Choose the other two colors (grey, soft gold) for your pillows). You might want to balance tv wall with a built in bookcase to the left. That rug is going to make this a fabulous room. Post your final choices. once rug is in place, you may want to pull sectional away from the wall. Then choose some art for the room.

Love that rug too. But before you run off buying a bunch of paint get the rug and see it in your light. Then go to Sherwin Williams paint store and get some samples and their sample boards. Make up sample boards of 2-4 colors. SW Agreeable Gray might be one (i worry too dark for basement) but also get SW base Pure White. Get SW Accessible Beige. With samples of those 3 you can put the sample boards in the basement in your light and see which direction to go with that rug. Comparing is best way to test for color. Hope you do this. Is costs a bit up front, but can save a whole lot of money by avoiding mistakes.

The room should be fairly easy. I agree, creamy white would be good in your basement. The rug you chose is fine. do you want me to start on pillows or accessories?

Gray is the LAST thing that room needs. Nice rug above, agree with suggestions to pick lighter color from whatever rug you choose.

A dark taupe looks good.

Here is my other option back to one of the original posts. Along with SW agreeable gray paint...thoughts on this rug before I purchase. (If all looks well under my lighting as suggested)

mix a couple of the above in a different side and then use the below silk blend lumbars for the ends of the couch.

I'm not sure if this is done right but here is the rug...so I have some questions,

Based in the feel/vibe I want to go for, not sure if this is getting me there or if it's even possible...everything is up for change...I.e. couch color (although I'm buying from Love Sac) wall color, (I do like SW Agreeable Gray)

Or with other changes do we get to this look/feel/vibe?

I think you need 8x10 or even 9x12 for your room and furniture. See if you can exchange it.

i know all modern has an 8x10 that is where i first got the rug.

Because the rug is small, I wouldnt put it under the furniture, if possible. Perhaps place it only under the ottoman with the majority of it uncovered if no other choice.

No the rug is too small. Return it, you will never be happy.

I can certainly return rug so that's good, but now I'm concerned is it the right rug color / style.

I'm not a designer, but I think the inspiration photos look more sophisticated than the rug you bought. I do like the gold color in it.

The Surya Cosmopolitan that Sharon posted above, would work very well if it comes in a large enough size. You could get the smallest one they have to 'test'. Then see how you like it and if you like it, order the 9 x 12. I'm pretty sure you need a 9 x 12? This way, you aren't returning a large, heavy rug. Try that. The space needs "brightness" and fun look really badly. No more gray! Are you colorblind by any chance? Not being mean, just might be a fact which makes you apprehensive about color?

Hey Flo I'm not color blind at, but I am very "design deficient" when it comes to interior design.

Hope you didn't take that comment the wrong way. Actually, many men are color blind. So, then it is just "fear". So, give that one Sharon posted a try. I think it will "make" your room. You are ALMOST THERE. I wouldn't steer you wrong. I also think you might add one more little fun chair. Like this one (and yes the two patterns can live together!) :)

Very handsome and would add one more to your seating arrangement without being overly "bulky". Masculine, but sleek too.

Anthony, when you get dressed in the morning do you wear all gray? One more chunk of gray in this room is going to bore you to tears! Think about how you dress and bring some colors into this room that you like to wear, in ties, shirts, etc. You look like a dapper guy!?
