Need help with dated kitchen

There is something to be said for going ahead and putting in "permanent" features if they fit in the budget when building your home. But what's a girl to do when that permanent feature is granite counter tops in her kitchen on top of cabinets that are dated...Do people actually purchase used granite? Although I do like my Dakota Mahogany granite, I wouldn't be opposed to a change. And I am aware that if we remove it to use it on new cabinets, there is a chance we break it. Our house was built in 1996 and my pink pickled oak cabinets are out dated and I also need to replace a Jenn air gas range cooktop that is in an island. Sink and faucet also need to be replaced!
