Pat. I lik e Era free, but I wouldn't say its as heavy duty as Tide free. The Era is a budget brand and has less enzymes which is fine if the clothes are not heavily stained or if you pretreat. For normally soiled clothing its a fine detergent. Remember not everything needs the big dogs..I'm all for milder detergent if possible.

Pat, I didn't really like Era Free at first but that was a bias...I thought it wasn't as powerful as Tide Free mainly because it's not as thick. I read the ingredients and Era has less thickeners than Tide. Cleaning is not as good as Tide Free but it's pretty good considering it's a budget brand.

I agree with Mama that it's a fine detergent for normally soiled laundry. As Mama stated, it has less enzymes (Era Free only protease vs. protease, amylase, and mannanase for Tide Free). It's got a good mix of surfactants and has many of the same ingredients as Tide Free for a much better value.

Darwin also like Era Free as it doesn't bother his asthma.
