This is the colour box. I don't see it here but I recall that Miele colour also has OB.

Great. it is the same company, but I think my Miele for colors has no oba's. That was one difference between them. The colors detergent also has an ingredient to keep color dyes in the water thus preventing colors from sticking on items not the same color. It is a 13 or 14 letter ingredient, I'll have to look up the spelling for it.

When I first started buying it 7 years ago the box for colours mentioned a proprietary brightener iirc. That wording isn't on these boxes.

I think the wording on the box was a bit misleading. I think it said that it kept colors bright. I think one of the reasons Germans have a detergent for colors is that it does not contain oxygen bleach or oba's. Using oba's on colors, especially darks will overtime fade the colors.

The ingredient in the first line is found in Miele for color..at least it was. My washer drains into my laundry sink. When I wash a load of tans the wash water comes out tan. Light blue the water exits light blue. Whatever color is in the load will be in the water as it exits and this is why I started sorting loads by color. When that top ingredient is present in the water any dyes in the water are prevented from adhering to fabrics so the fabric is helped to retain it's original color. I think this is what they mean when they say it helps keeps colors bright.

Anyway the only reason I used it was because it did not contain oba's or oxygen bleach.

When Persil was released in the USA I was hoping for a detergent for colors but that is something we are not used to so I understand why they didn't.

UPS delivered my Target order of two 50 load Pearl jugs. Welp, they were completely destroyed in shipping. Thanks UPS. Target ordered new jugs. This time shipped to the store. Fingers crossed.

Mine came in a pretty flimsy box with the balloon type packing material. It was intact, but all shifted around inside and the box almost broken open. I wouldn't have been surprised to see mine destroyed either.

I can't believe how they pack things. I used to order from Drugstore.com to Canada and something was always damaged due to poor packing. I now order from Vitacost and they pack so well.

Henkel wants to take market share away from Tide.

Tide has a fantastic detergent for whites..Tide with Bleach powder (oxy bleach and the needed bleach activator). Tide also makes pods for whitening.

Henkel killed Persil Pearls (oxy bleach and the needed bleach activator). Now Persil USA does not have a product for whites.

Very disappointed with this news! Considering stocking up on a bunch from target while they are still available since when I looked on Amazon the prices from 3rd party sellers was sky high. It's hasn't been available locally for a very long time.

Are the european boxes the same formula? It would be good to know if at least, somehow, it could still be purchased in the future.

The problem with Tde with oxy bleach is that it is not on store shelves. Infact in most stores around me there are no powders on the shelves at all. The one exception is Target, but even there the powders (no Tide powders) are pushed against a small wall "over there", and are not even with the rest of the rest of the detergents.

So one problem with Perls sales in mainstream stores is that detergent manufactures have conditioned people to believe liquids are so much more convenient than powders and now stores dont even stock powders to make them available to those that want to use them. Ofcourse they now sell boosters to make up for the cleaning abilities of liquids. No booster was needed with Perls. Win for the stores, win win for detergent manufactures, lose lose for consumers.

I have no problem around here finding Tide with Bleach powder. ...but ya....as far as boosters go...Tide with Bleach powder requires no booster for whites, not even a good idea to use one as its just too much sodium carbonate. ..but with liquids you would need the booster..they make more money this way. Not everyone understands they don't need two products when they can buy one that does it all.

This is what I think about the Pearls...they were being assembled here with foreign ingredients. ..they didn't sell as well as the liquids and pods, that doesn't surprise me in the US...soo Henkel figured why set up everything they would require to manufacture the Pearls in the US when sales wernt good and they sure wernt going to continue importing them. This is of course my thoughts..

I've said it before but people in the US want one detergent that does it all, they don't mind adding the ocassional booster, but they want one detergent. Its pretty apparent looking at people in public that most don't have a clue, I see it in their dingy whites and dusty darks (ob's) and most want the liquids...

I think if Henkel really wanted to surpass P&G in sales they should have gone the extra mile and did a commercial about what whites and colors really need...explain about the Pearls, bleach, and activator...make the US consumers think about it and realize their whites might not be so white afterall using a Tide pod...Henkel didn't promote the Pearls...no wonder they failed.

@Jerrod...a while back P&G made their powders he turbo for both top and front load machines. When they did this...Tide with Bleach powder is everywhere!!! It is always easily available at Target, Walmart, Ralph's (Kroger), Vons, Pavilions, Safeway, Gelson's....

The pearls never impressed me. They were too sudsy in a top loader, I didn't care for the smell and they didn't seem to make a difference on stained whites. I LOVE Tide w/bleach though! Everything always came out clean without any additives.

No Tide with Bleach powder in Canada. I would buy it for sure if available. I've never loved the Persil scents.

I dont like the scent of the liquid, it's too strong. The pods scent isnt bad though... it reminds me of mens cologne!

I actually love the scent of Persil Pearls (Perls, German version) and all Persil liquid scents (USA & German). The scents are clean, bracing, fresh and old fashioned. Nothing fruity, sweet or candy like. Sadly, besides from the Persil caps/pods...all other offerings are insanely sudsy and impossible to rinse!

I agree Andi....Persil caps/pods do smell like faint, soft men's cologne...yet they still have an old fashioned laundry smell too. The pods are my fav!!

I would love, love a Persil scented fabric softener as well. Heaven. Our 2 local Ralph's always carried 2-3 scents of Purex (Henkel) liquid fabric softener. NO more. Both stores have none, no label on the shelf. I wonder if Henkel is killing Purex softener as well?! :(

I really agree with Mama when she talks about advertising the Perls. I can't even think of one Persil Pro Perls commercial that I've seen.

Talking about dingy whites, you should see the men's locker room at my gym. When white socks or underwear is involved I've never seen such dingy, grimy, clean white clothig in my life. I wouldn't even put it on. All I can think is " and this is clean? Where has it I been". So there is no recognition of the need for more than one type of detergent.

Just returned from the supermarket. Not a box of powder in sight. Even Dreft is in liquid form. Just my luck I guess.

I figure my options for a detergent with oxygen bleach are between German Persil Megaperls or Miele for whites. Most likely go with Megaperls but the Miele detergent is cheaper.

I buy it at our Big Lots. I noticed that Target at the Persil Sensitive Liquid on clearance today. I hope it doesn't leave, too.

I messaged persil about sensitive and while its not being discontinued it’s being reformulated along with 2 in 1. 2 in 1 now say something odor fighting formula. I have a local grocery store with the original (1st production) persil pearls but 16 for the jug. Big lots has them for 10.00 now. Up until last month target had them online only but those are gone now too.

I was not fond of the original Persil Sensitive. It didn't seem to work well. This new version seems to work better. I did move, though. It worked better at the old house and at this new one. I use Persil Pearls for diapers. My youngest little guy is allergic to Tide, as is one of my girls. I do A LOT of laundry. I hope that they don't change the Sensitive so that it no longer works.

I really want a powder detergent that my kids are not allergic to, and that either has no scent or very little scent.

Susey are your kids also allergic to Tide Free and Gentle Powder? Or have you tried ALL Free and clear powder? I know ALL iisn't a workhorse detergent but its fairly good although you may have to pretreat stains which can be a all day job with kids clothes..lol. If you don't mind pretreating stains your options increase. BioKleen powders are fairly good..very very light scent.

Yes, allergic to Tide Free and Gentle AND Tide Pur. It's very frustrating. I've tried All Free and Clear, but it has been a while. I bought a ton of Wisk Pure and Free?, but I ran out of that sometime last summer, and I don't have anymore. The Biokleen is only HE because it requires less detergent. I don't know that I trust it. I tend to have to use quite a bit of detergent when washing, though I haven't had sudsing issues with most detergents, even with adding STPP.

I'm super bad about getting stains out, but I do wash diapers, and they have to be clean. I'm hoping that the toddler decides to potty learn soon, but he's not super excited about it. I need to use something with OB's in it because I hate dingy whites. When I used only Country Save, everything was dingy. :(

FYI, this is what Henkel had to say today about Persil Power Pearls in the US:

And this is because Henkel was Assembling it in the US with foreign ingredients. Since demand wasn't high enough they decided it wouldn't be a wise investment to put the $$$ into a factory that could manufacture the product here. Yes they have a factory but not the machinary needed. In a business sense they did the right thing..personally I'm very unhappy.

People in the US don't understand the need for a whites detergent. Its one size fits all for most folks.

mamapinky0, I'm unhappy too. I stocked up before the Pearls disappeared and now have 15 large containers. Guess I'll have to see what else is available when I start to run out.

Be careful with the Pearls at Big Lots. If the Pearls are all broken up and there's no white pearls because it now looks like powder stay away from it. Some folks have had bad results when this happens.

Just saw this. I checked my bottles. They look mostly like Pearls. Hmmm. Maybe I will have to see how Biokleen works. We have super hard water now, so maybe it will be ok and not suds too much. I have to add STPP to every load now, instead of just some of them.
