I love the wood lath strip idea from BeverlyFLADeziner, and would like to know more about how to do that. They would be perfect for my TV wall.

Maybe there's a Youtube on it.

bunnerbec, I had the strips install vertically in my home years ago. I used a cheap moulding from HD that was a half-round profile. Once I figured out the spacing for my handyman, he used a level and attached the strips to the wall using a nailgun. He caulked the seam where the wood met the drywall, sanded lighting and painted over the wood and drywall.

Doing it horizontally would be similar, but perhaps a laser level could help with the install. Interior & outside corners could be tricky, but not for a good carpenter if you show him/her enough pics of what you want. Here are a few more pics. If I run across a DIY video I'll post it. Kind of a more contemporary way to approach a 'shiplap' look.
