Hi Emmarene ........ Thanks for the input. I'd been thinking white early
on but there were so many I had trouble getting the right white and I
also have 2 large dogs who make a mess of everything. The white cabs I
had were always looking like a mess. Would you rule out grey
altogether as I found 2 other greys, SW Dove Tail (more of a true grey
w/o blue) and SW Pave stone (grey w/a taupe undertone). Also since this is my first redo, by contrast do you mean going from floor up, to either use a very dark color or a white? Thanks for the advise also on the back splash. My contractor said he'd come back later on to do that.

Light cabinets whether very, very light gray (hard to get the right color with no green or blue) and a simple backsplash as the granite is your centerpiece and has a lot of color (semi darker) and movement. mdicz is right! After ages of not getting my head to want to wait it is best to wait to see it all before picking the backsplash...

I'd do white cabinets or just off white without a, "creamy" tone...

White cabinets especially if you want to do that backsplash and flooring, otherwise it might be too much.

I think both the Pavestone and Dovetail are too dark and have too much brown. There doesn't appear to be any brown in your flooring. I think the gray you show, cut to 50%, might work.

It looks like the granite you chose has some brown tones going through it, and the tile might be slightly cream. You can keep that sleek look you are going for if you use a wood-look cabinet, as well. The style of the cabinet is important, you're looking for a shaker cabinet or something with a modern flat front. The floor seems very light, and your backsplash is reflective, so I think could go darker with the cabinets. With dogs, this will hide some of the mud and other doggy things!

You can use stainless pulls and knobs throughout the kitchen, but I would not do the *entire* backsplash in the metal. I believe it might be overwhelming and be unnecessarily costly. Maybe try a modern vertical pattern using a simple tile to tie into the floors and use the metal backsplash for over the stove or sink as an accent design piece...

Notice the samples with a wooden cabinet have the white floor like you have. It works.

Simple and sleek is modern, so less bling of the metal and more straight lines. Also, if you every want to change your style again, these design choices in cabinet and backsplash can simplify the change over. Wood never goes out of style, and a simple backsplash is timeless.

The accent tile even though I think you are holding off on the backsplash is dated or soon to be dated... I would not go that route in my opinion. I'd go simple even if it was a glass subway in a very light or if you prefer a more slim line

Thank you everyone for the much needed input. I have another PIC with the white door. Additional thoughts on this would be much appreciated and in looking for a grey/taupe theme, does any one have any suggestions for wall and trim colors? I'm fine with a monochromatic look and would bring in color with accessories. Everyone on here has been great!

Thanks again for the latest input. Wanting to go lighter with cabs as space is in a standard height ceiling room and darker due to limited light. I am definitely holding off now on a back splash decision. Additional input is more than welcome.
