It's hard bc green or blue will have to be just right to work with the beautiful sideboard. I don't hate the color you have there!

Congrats to your new home! I like the style of your dining room. Maybe take a light gray. Agreeable gray SW and leave blues fo accents furniture and decorations.

what about the blue gray color in your rug? See if you can match that and then make sure it looks good with the sideboard.

There are so many wonderful things you can do in your room.

Bad news..your rug is too small for the table/chairs. Can you return? Maybe an 8 x 10?

Think about painting your tray ceiling the color of your sideboard.

A new chandelier may be in order and a great something over the sideboard.

You don't want to take away from the blue sideboard. I would go with the brown shade from the rug and paint the tray ceiling to match the blue in the rug. Leave the trim and wainscotting white.

Wow I love the idea of painting the tray the same color as the sideboard or the blue in rug! The rug is a bit small, but it was for a GREAT price at a resale shop! I'm trying hard to stay in budget. We refinished and reupholstered the chairs, had the table made by a friend, and are searching for an affordable chandelier.

You might want to look at Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams for your walls. I LOVE your table...mind telling where you got it?

The greenish grey in the rug pattern would work well on the wainscoting. Do the walls in a soft whit, and put Farrow and Ball's BORROWED LIGHT on the ceiling.

Art and mirrors will definitely help. You might consider sconces (wired or candle).

I would love to see a light oatmeal color on the walls look at Martha Stewart's Bedford Gray.....with the white wainscoting....paint your ceiling a soft blue/green and add a light colored Chandelier like this...great price! would look beautiful in contrast to a blue ceiling...
