floor finish is coming off - HELP

We had our floors refinished last spring, they sanded and stained and finished, everything was great for maybe 4 months, and once fall came and the heat in the house was turned on we began to notice lines forming at the seams between the boards and then the finish began coming off in patches. Attached are some photos of representative areas.

Finish and stain were oil based.

Any ideas on what has gone wrong and most importantly how to prevent this from happening if we get this floor refinished (again).

Not sure, but it looks like the stain and finish were not compatible. What a bummer.

Contact whomever did the floor and tell them to come back to fix the problem. If they won't, proceed to use social media to discredit the work, maybe check your contract and call an attorney. I would not do anything to it, if I were you, because that removes the onus from the original workers. They need to be held responsible.

when you noticed the cracks forming at 4 months, did you call them?? just curious why you waited an entire year. the cracks were precursors of what was to come. Did you paperwork give you any type of warranty? But yes, call them and see what they say.
