Why emphasize the least important, least domestic part of the house. Paint garage door and entry door the same zippy colour. The house really needs a lift.

If it were me....I would paint the trim and garage door the same gray as the stone trim and then paint the door a ... hot pink. Add some light stone planters on the porch with greenery and pink flowers. Or do a yellow front door and repeat the colors in container plants.

Yes, the yellow does look nice with all this dark. A yellow that is bright enough, yet not too bright such as Beeswax from SW or similar.

This door is SW beeswax... enough pop, but not crayola yellow. It's a pretty yellow and warm. Not as pretty on the swatch as when painted on something!

My first thought was yellow, too -- and I love the Porter's suggestion. It looks like a very special colour.

IMO some of these colors are just not serious choices.

I suggest the idea of wood grain for the front door & garage door are a better direction to head for your home.

It won't matter what bold or interesting color you paint your front door if you leave the giant (in comparison) garage door stark white. That will always draw the eye. Paint the garage door, then pick an interesting, complementary color on the front door to get it the attention you want.

The house is a very strong charcoal gray so I would suggest a door color with the same amount of dark dirty tone rather than bright and clear beachy colors. In the blue-green grouping, I could see turqoise or robin egg blue. On the red-orange side, how about a burnt orange or cranberry?

Definitely coordinate the front door color with the garage door color. I'm thinking since the garage door is larger, go with a color one or two slots above the door color on a color card. For the door color, I'm thinking something with a dark base where the garage door would be a medium base color.

My favorite suggestion given to you is to paint the garage door and the front door the same color. The "wood" look is the best. Painting the front door and leaving the garage door white is a mistake.

most definitely not a white garage door, it's too bold against the rest. Grey makes it blend in, as shown by grover above. a yellow front door is my pick, and widen the pavement in the front, to a straight line to the front door, it will make it connect better visually, and your entrance won't feel as hidden

Grover's first rendering is perfect. Lime green door. The garage door should absolutely not be a focal point, ditch the white.

I think if you are going to have the garage door white, the n the door should be white. Since the garage stands out because it is white you want the door to do the same. If you have the room I would add a colorful pot (yellow, green, or turquoise) with flowers in it by the door.

I think you you leaving the door white and the garage white may be the best option. I don't see anything wrong with it. Need some large modern porch planters and some flanking the garage to bring in color. There is NO landscape as of yet so all we are looking at is this large dark house..... Interesting semi modern nice scale lighting flanking the garage and even some under recessed lighting.

I think you could paint it grey like someone already suggested or stain it the wood look with the wood look front door. Planters are nice too! My favorite is the yellow with the grey garage door and with a couple tall modern planters and under lighting for sure

Lostinreno, I'm not wrong, you just don't like my opinion. There's a difference.

Now that I've take another look at the original house, I wouldn't change anything. I'd leave it as is because the windows frames are so stark, keeping the doors the current color make everything relate.

Curious what you choose. Door is de-emphasized. Landscaping will help, as will the suggested pots for bright flowers. Keep it simple.

Bad idea to NOT paint that giant white door. It sticks out like a sore thumb! Paint it a couple shades darker than the house. Paint your front door something bright (yellow, lime green) to call attention to it. Dark,paint won't show, and you'll just have a garage house

That white garage door is a serious mistake on that house. It's bad enough that the vehicle storage facility dominates the building, but painting it such a contrasting color just makes it worse!

One caution: If the door faces south or west and gets direct afternoon sun, don't paint it too dark; you could get warping from heat buildup. Plus, if you make it as dark as the rest of the house it will look like you bought the place from Dart Vader.

Seems the trend in my local area is high to keep the giant stark white garage door... in the city, I live in at least 75% of garages are white. I actually picked the color darkest grape instead from Behr, it's a little brighter and gives a little shot of color. The other colors were too dark and it just looked black from the street. After its painted, I will re-evaluate the garage door, but att this point it seems to go with the local trend of white garages lol. Thank so much to everyone for the ideas and comments though :)

I'm usually big on painting garage doors, but oddly I like yours and the other examples you posted from the same development -- I think it's because they have a modern feel, so the white feels almost like color-blocking (like an aluminum door would) rather than like "white to match the trim" reflex at work.

Anyway, I hope you find the right cranberry-to-hot pink shade to bring a pop to your front door. Congrats on the new home.
