More often we find textured tile, such a Blairlock, installed horizontal. Continuous flow of a surface helps creates space, so whether vertical or horizontal, avoiding interruptions will help create a more spacious feel.

If you are able to include dimensional info about the room, along with a couple photos, you'll likely to see more definitive opinions.
