I didn't check for Bingo words today so I'll catch up on that list tomorrow. It rained here so I tried to do some gardening. Too soon so I'm a bit sore. My tomato plants in containers are getting huge so I had hopes of getting some into the ground. My husband helped a little and we managed to get 3 of them moved into the ground and then I replanted some raspberry bushes from a container to the ground and did that one by myself. The fact that it rained and was easier to dig was just too tempting to me. No digging tomorrow!

Maggie, so many of those words were unknown to me. My plan is to explain them when I post that they have been selected for Bingo. We'll also use some of those themes for the Points Game.

Jeanne - I know what you mean with digging. People can say "pace yourself" all they want, but when the time is right you just have to get some things done! Look forward to learning some new horticultural terms this month. :-)

Maggie, many of my tomato plants in containers are about 3 feet long - I'd say "tall" but they are training along the ground at this point. I know once tomatoes form or the tomatoes on them get a tiny bit larger, it will be almost impossible to move them. (In containers and summer, would mean a good watering twice a day. Arg! The containers are not even very large.) My pepper plants are all in containers now and they are starting to set fruit so I need to work with them soon, too. At least I got my cucumber plants in the ground before I had my surgery and I've picked 2 so far. I found that the cucumber plants like to grow on tomato cages so that helped in getting them settled.

I listened to the weather forecast this evening and they said a heat index of 104 tomorrow. Sure is good we have been getting a few rain storms.

Jeanne - looks like we're having the same temps (mid 90s but feels over 100). Although humidity just wilts me, it does make it a tad easier for your plants. But boy - you folks do have moisture! Accuweather shows you're at 63% humidity now while I'm sitting at 19%. (Was going to name my garden, I should just call it garden of the crispy brown leaves!).

The great thing about tomatoes is the whole burying deep thing - a good sideways stem can be a boon! Congrats on the cuke -mine haven't decided if they're going to cooperate or not. The heat hit and they just stopped growing (as did the eggplants). Same number of leaves as when I planted them out. They may be permanently stunted, I'm watching to see if they'll recover. Tomatoes took off and squash relatively happy. I'll have plenty but might have fewer choices than I'd planned.

It's great that you're able to be out and digging. You're healing up quickly which is wonderful! Frustrating for you to not be where you want with the garden but at least that surgery is behind you and you're catching up!

Maggie, I won't be doing any more digging for awhile and am disappointed. I don't know if the digging or straightening up the downstairs of the house and doing 2 loads of laundry did me in, but I was hurting so much last night that the pain pill didn't even work. It was a night with very little sleep so I'm not doing much of anything today. I don't know if the workmen will be back tomorrow to work more on the bathroom, but I need to be ready for all that commotion if it happens. Maybe they will wait until after the 4th of July?

My husband is outside watering a bit with the hoses. I'm very thankful. I didn't look to see how much the plants wilted today.

I did absolutely nothing strenuous today and am feeling a lot better. (My husband is probably worn out from doing what I had planned to do.)

I have our first POINT GAME ready to post for tomorrow. To make it fair so that everyone has a good opportunity to guess even if it's later in the day when you log on, you'll post here that you've guessed but you'll MESSAGE your guesses to me. Looks like I'll have to announce the winner on Tuesday if we do it that way, but we'll see how it goes.

I'm excited to try this game. I've been exercising my creativity. There will be multiple chances to add points throughout the month so don't worry if you can't guess tomorrow or if you see others getting ahead of you with points. If my brain cooperates I'll post more than one POINT GAME each week and we'll keep adding up the points.

POINT GAME – Part 1

Only FOTESS members are to participate
in the POINT GAME.

Today we'll make use of one of our
Bingo words – Rhymes. A rhyme is, of course, a repetition of
similar sounds (or the same sound) in two or more words, often used
in the final syllables of lines of poetry and lyrics of songs.

The challenge here is to post the correct song title of each of the
following. The actual word (or syllables of the words) have been
replaced with something that rhymes with the actual word. The song
titles relate to plants and flowers so that may help you a little.

everyone else, only post that you've guessed and please MESSAGE your
list of guesses to me. By the end of the day the person(s) who have
the most titles correct will get 2 points each. I hope I didn't make

Jeanne, I'm glad you took it easy. My husband I watched an episode of a show we like. The Sheriff was shot. He can't remember what happened. He got out of his hospital bed and headed down the hallway like a drunken fool. Of course he couldn't get his pants on by himself but he could run all over 3 counties looking for bad guys. Truth is if he tried to repot his tomatoes he'd be back on the couch! Love those realistic shows!

I received POINT GAME guesses from Annie, Maggie, Amy, Heidi, and Brooke. It was a 3 way tie for the most guesses correct and Amy, Heidi, and Brooke got all 5 correct so you get 2 points each. Excellent guesses also by Annie and Maggie. I had my husband look at them before I posted them and he couldn't figure out one of them so don't feel bad.

Great game Jeanne - Googled and I've heard the music from that last song (my dad loved Big Band stuff) but don't think I'd ever known the title. It was a fun brain teaser :-) Happy Independence Day everyone!!

I have decided I better pass for this month and just pop in from time to time. Busy busy here with garden, company and a quick visit to Arkansas . Seems the older I get the slower I go and two swaps is just too many.

helloooooo ... ghost own here ... what's up with everyone? Accuweather says another heat wave here - today and upcoming 7 days well over 100 - to 114 (!! arg !!) as the next week progresses. This is NORMALLY a really lovely place to live, really it is. These solid blocks of heat are unusual - and as my town relies on tourists to stay in biz, really bad news for us. What's it like in your neck of the woods?

Yes, very hot here as well. I got my plants watered mid-morning, but they might need more the way the days are going. Just happy to have picked a few cucumbers and tomatoes. Hopefully things will continue to produce.

Here's POINT GAME Part 2

This one is based on our Bingo word bilingual, relating to two languages.

The items numbered are colors in a foreign language. The items with letters are types of flowers. Your task is to match the numbers and letters so each pair is written in the same language. Each of the letters and numbers will be used only once in your answers. (I hope the same word is not used in more than one language, but I will
check that in awarding points.) Send your guesses to me through Message or email. Simply post here on the thread that you sent answers so I will be sure to look for them.

Example. If these were in English and
#8 was “gold” and the only other English word on the list was h. “daylily”, you would give that as one answer: 8h. Send me all 7 guesses for #1-7. You are matching the items under numbers and under letters so they are written in the same language. The person(s) with the most answers right will get 5 points. For 2 extra points you can list which language each pair is. 2 more points if you correctly translate all the words into English. The last 2 parts are not required as part of the game --- just a bonus if you want to try for it --- and all 7 must be correct for you to get bonus points.
