Remove paint from exterior brick?

This is the current color of brick on my house. I didn't paint it, it was painted when I bought it, looks very old (the house is 100). I'm in a semi-detached, and the first photo shows the divide with my neighbour's brick, which is the original colour. Why they did this, I have no idea.

It's a fairly small surface that's done, around main front window and door. What should I do? Repaint the brick a different colour (maybe greige, trim is black) try to remove it? Anyone removed old paint from brick before? Would a pressure washer followed by a heat gun work?
