We recently painted our den sw romance and fireweed. We love the romance it's a beautiful soft pink but we are not sure that the dark fireweed goes with it. The entire room is romance. This is not working. You have way too much blue undertones in that red to go with that flooring. You would want more of a tan or green to go with the flooring. Also please consider painting the trim and doors a softer white. This is just too much contrast and its not restful to the eye.

Yes we r painting the door trim and floor trims white.

This is my home entrance and I need help to decide if I should keep this colour or change it to the light pink or white or something else. Thanks

None of the colors work with the flooring. Is the flooring staying? The white is way too bright to go with any current colors. You might try a much warmer off white that you can use on the walls, doors, and for trim. I would also replace the black knobs on the doors. The doors in the living room will then blend into the walls.

Is it the carpet or the floor near the entrance. What floor will go? What type of knobs should I put?

If your room were mine, I would paint all the trim (not a big job) the same white as the double doors. I can’t tell if the mantel is wood, but if so, paint that white, as well. (Just read that you have decided already to paint the trim white).

Paint the entire room fireweed. Get an area rug for the front hall.

If you go to S W website and put fireweed in for search, you will see a living room all red with lots of white trim, For the life of me I can copy that picture.

I like the fireplace with the rug…not trying to change your mind, but red won’t make your room dark, it will make it bright (not light).

Do a favor for me and just look at the S W living room with all the white trim.

Yes it does look beautiful but our den doesn't get a lot of light. And so I'm afraid it will not look as good as the pix. I was thinking of a light pink and gold room with a little bit of dark red for an accent. But now I think it doesn't work very well and I don't know how to fix it.

I would lose the red altogether as an accent with the pink & gold den. It would look too harsh.

I would just keep it simple in the den. The inspiration pics that you posted show pink, gold & white. I think that would be sufficient in achieving the look that you are going for. For the red above the fireplace, I would paint the pink wall color. I would also look at putting a nice complementary wallpaper as an accent on the wall by the entrance instead of the red color.

A soft green gray color such as SW Sea Salt with white trim would lighten and go well with your flooring. I love bright colors but not in your space. I could see a light off white wall color with white trim and then layer in more off whites and sand tones with very soft pink accessories and soft golds could work. The flooring is what has to be conquered.

Paint out the doors and the ugly wood trim. The white changes the impression of the colours, and the trim screams at everything.

What about matching the fireplace mantel (it looks like off-white) & painting the trim & doors that color?

What if I change the red into sw rojo dust. It says it's complementary to the romance which is the light pink. Should I try that?

I look at everything that is permanent and difficult or expensive to change:

1) tan/brown/gray entrance hall floor (yellow undertones)

2) tan brick or stone fireplace.

3) tan carpet.

I see a lot of yellow undertones. The gold that you are wanting to use would work, but the current pink or red colors are not so compatible. The suggestion for SW Sea Salt would give it a modern look, and also would harmonize with your existing floor and fireplace colors. SW rojo dust is also a good suggestion, but is not as trendy, and will be more difficult to find upholstered products to match.

If you want brighter space, SW Rojo Dust will suck up light and it will turn brown in low light I believe. Sorry, but you need to go lighter walls, white trim, and accessorize with your pinks and maybe some deep rose if you wish. A rose tone has more blue in it and the rust has more brown. Blue undertones work better with pinks and other off whites. Do some sample boards to test colors in your light. Observe in your light away from the effects of existing wall colors. See how they look morning, noon and night.

Soft wall color, white trim and accessories and art with the pinks and even some purples.

No pink there. A caramel would be better or Dove white.

Rose and pinks with pale gray walls and a lot of white and black. Very romantic I think. Gold trims here and there add that glam factor.

Off whites, with soft grays, purple and blacks.

Just to give you a few additional ideas. You could do purples with your pink. That is very romantic and take a "Hollywood Regency" flare to your space.

I would go with the pink or an off white of some kind instead of the red, good luck.

Do you have to have two different wall colors? I think it would look better all one color. Start with that and the white trim

I would paint everything the pink and change the floors in the entry. Painting the door and wall trim will help as well.
