confused. the pic directly above is the inspiration pic of how you want yours to look? it has a drawer under it. you don't like that? I think that would be a great idea. You will need extra drawers for pans/large pots. take it.

Yes that is exactly how I would like it to look. I'm wondering if the cabinet with the drawer will work with this microwave. It is a built in microwave, but in the cabinet specs there is a comment that this is designed for counter top type microwaves. My cabinet guy says I need the one with the 8 inch gap, that one is made for built in microwaves (I don't want the gap!). I'm thinking that I can get the one with the larger drawer to work. Thoughts?

i'm assuming the 8" gap is for support for the built in model? if it sits on the countertop, then no support would be needed underneath the micro. if it sits inside a built-in, then does it really need that much underneath? have you asked? is it for the components or what? I would check w/the company to see what is required for a built-in.

Good point. I will look at that. I emailed Kraftmaid about a week ago and told them what I wanted and if it would work, haven't heard back. I'll reach out to GE to see what their thoughts are. Thank you!

If you read the actual installation instructions is requires 36 1/4" above the floor as the minimum mounting height. It is designed to go in an oven stack, not under counter. Yes, they show it under the counter as a display. That still does not mean that that is a safe approved location. It does void the warranty and create a safety hazard by mounting it against the manufacturers explicit installation instructions.

Just to point out .........the oven requires a 30" cabinet, not 25"

Thanks Sophie, I did read that and was a bit upset that they show it under a counter... It does say in the manual that when installing under 36 inches do not remove the plastic trim. Given they say this, would it still void the warranty? I get the safety issue but I don't see how it would be any less hot above 36 inches, must just be for kids.

Thanks Beverly, I'm looking at the 30 inch cabinet (or deciding between the two 30 inch cabinets).

The total height of the appliance is 19" and the cutout height of the cabinet is 19". The appliance will fit in the space, but you will either have a gap at the top, or you will have to add material to the bottom of the shelf to add height so that you can get the same reveal on the top and bottom (fun).

You might try looking at under-counter OVEN cabinets rather than under-counter microwave cabinets, and you might find one that fits.
