Are you quilting this weekend? August 4-6

Hello Quilters! I am waiting for my Aunt and her daughter and son-in-law to arrive for a short visit. They are passing through Columbus on their way home from St. Louis. I haven't seen her since my mom passed away in 2004. We have talked on the phone since then but not in person

I had a bad experience this week. My glasses broke into two pieces. I can't read anything without them. My DD was able to glue them together so I can wear them until I get a replacement. She used Gorilla glue and I hope they hold until the new glasses arrive. I feel so self-conscious because there is a small round dot on the bridge of my glasses. I had to have her do it for me because I couldn't see well enough to do it.

On the quilting front, now that I can see again, I cut out two quilts for the granddaughters. I bought the patterns and fabric a couple of months ago. I have been excited to start them but wanted to finish some others first. I also finished sewing the Tropical Twist quilt from the Bonnie Hunter class.

Enough about me, what are you sewing or quilting this weekend?

No quilting for me ... for several weeks, it seems!! We have 2 exchange students with us until August 20, then leave for DH's bicycle trip from Yellowstone to Glacier National Park. We hope to be back by Sept. 8 or so, maybe I will get a chance to sew then.

LOL! Linda, the last time I had a mishap with my glasses, it was a simple thing of screwing the frame back together, but I couldn't see to fix my glasses without my glasses!

I posted the above awhile back yet when I look at number of comments it says 2 and it should be 3. This is a test.

Rita, I am not seeing a previous post from you.

That has happened to me too, Rita, but I may have forgotten to hit "submit." At least, that's what I think it was.

I hope to get some quilting in this weekend. I surely haven't done much this week. Those baptist fans are tedious, but they look pretty nice with the Asian fabrics in the quilt.

I'm also plugging along on a MQC Two Step quilt and some string blocks for a BH String-X quilt. I found a photo on line of a pretty Lozenge Baby Quilt, and I've been trying to find the right fabrics in my stash.

    That's about it from here.

Trying to cut some fabric, seems like it is working since I don't have to lift my arm up very high. Will also work on backing for DDs quilt and maybe another pillow case.

I have canned green beans all weekend, so no sewing for me.

Donna, no tape and the glue didn't last. A few minutes before my Aunt arrived, they fell apart again. I was able to find an old pair from the '90s that I am wearing. They are bifocals and I have been wearing trifocals for years. It is harder to see the computer screen but I can at least see to read and everything else. The reason I had to go so far back was because I have been using the same frames for a long time. I just had a new prescription put in them in June. What a waste! My frames have been discontinued so I will have to get all new glasses now.

I have been sewing on the new quilts. I have all the rows made for one and stopped working on it to make a couple blocks in the "Be My Neighbor" quilt-along. I printed out the patterns when it was current and made one block. Today I made the second block and cut out the third.

Finished the quilting on my kitty top. All that remains is the trimming up edges, binding, and getting it ready to deliver.
