Hi gram - you'll likely get more replies if you post over on one of the gardening forums. Tomatoes has their own forum called Growing Tomatoes and then there is the Vegetable Gardening forum too. The focus of this forum is canning and preserving.

As for what may be wrong, I'm sure they are going to ask you to post a photo if possible as it is almost impossible to diagnose a problem from just a description From your description is could be many different things and we'd have no way of narrowing down the possibilities.

There are many good websites with photos of all the common tomato diseases that you could compare to your plants. That would be a good place to start.
