Are you quilting this weekend? Dec. 29-31

Hello Quilters! I hope you are all keeping warm. We are having very cold temperatures here in central Ohio. It's been so cold that the pipes in my son's house have frozen. He has been working on it for two days. He decided to do some new plumbing to correct the problem. Therefore, we are postponing our family Christmas until next weekend. As my MIL used to say, happy homeowner!

Since we have had a change of plans, I am going to work on the mystery quilt this weekend. I finished the 5th clue yesterday.

Are you quilting or sewing this weekend?

Still working on the first two quilt backings. DH in hospital with bursitis in left hip. At least that's what they're saying. Can't have MRI because of pacemaker - it's metal, don't ya know.

Linda, I am so sorry to hear about your son's pipes freezing. Hope the new plumbing fixes that problem.

Glass, hope your hubby recovers quickly. That bursitis can be quite painful.

I really, really, really have missed my sewing room and fully intend to do some sewing.

I hope everyone gets back to normal soon, no way to start the New Year. I have Joann's gift cards, burning, burning. So that's what I plan to do. Doubt that I'll be doing any sewing as I haven't a clue what the next project is going to be. But I was eyeing a log cabin quilt in a magazine this morning and I do love them and love making them, too.

I'm leaving for four months in Florida tomorrow so don't have time to sew, but i will spend some time going through my stash to gather some fabric to take along. Don't know what projects I'll work on down there but there's sure to be at least one string quilt and perhaps a really simple one made with the ten minute block.

Brrrr! Cold here as well. In fact, we broke a 40 year old record for low temp. last night.

no actual sewing but I have been working on a xstitch Christmas stocking for newest GGD, almost finished.

Hope those pipes get fixed Linda.

And glass, on last night's news there was a clip that states that folks with pacemakers were able to have MRIs. Didn't pay a lot of attention to it but they are doing it somewhere.

I wish all of you a very Happy New Year with good health and whatever makes you happy.

No sewing for me. Tonight we are flying to DC to visit my sister for the weekend. Highs are supposed to be mid-20s, maybe snow flurries tonight and tomorrow.

I think the highs here in FL are only supposed to reach the 50s next week! Fran, I've forgotten - where do you stay in FL?

Glass, I hope your DH is better very soon!

Linda, I hope your son gets the plumbing problems fixed soon. Having been 2-1/2 weeks without a water heater, I feel for them!

Yes, I have plans to sew. I have a New Year's Day Charity Challenge to work on and to catch up on sewing some blocks together for 2 other quilts.

I received a gift cert for Amazon and decided to get a couple of feet for my sewing machine that most normal people already have. The Walking Foot and the 1/4" foot. ..... It was fun using them.

Fran, They're talking possible snow flurries in Tampa next week. It probably won't happen, but they had fun talking about it. Our high was 55 today....we wear hoodies in the house. :-)

Wishing safe travels to those leaving their houses this week-end.

My SO and I live in Port Saint Lucie. It was 5 degrees here this morning and is not going to get above freezing until next Wednesday. I’m really looking forward to Florida this year.

We may hold this group’s record for cold temps this morning. Temperature of -14° with a wind chill of -35°. Yikes! Maui sounds better every day. We’re leaving on January 10 for three months.

I’m packing up projects to take with us. I have fabric all cut and packaged for a baby quilt and a kimono wall hanging. I might try to come up with another project, but I usually don’t get as much done as I anticipate. Besides, this year my main objective is rehabbing my new knees, so any free time should be spent on that.

Happy new year, everyone. I hope all your home and health issues resolve quickly and that the weather returns to normal - whatever that is these days.

That’s cold, Lois! It’s 17 here in DC this morning. It snowed a little in the wee hours of Sat. We didn’t see it falling but got to walk around in it.

A little brisk here, too. -4 expected tonight with wind chills of -20 to -30 deg. My DD from CO helped me sort fabric and work on the basement today, but I won't actually sew until next weekend after she leaves. We have a lot of To Dos on her list.

    Happy New Year everyone!
