I recommend painting the furniture an espresso (deep black/brown color) and the walls a warm coffee with cream color and bed linens in a combination of those colors

Then what you need to do is to create one wall totally dedicated on your collection of pictures to mimic a gallery ,keeping things together you will give identity to the room but above all yourselves . Begin by changing the colour on your walls , and the find an interesting bedding to complete it .

I like the idea of painting the furniture a deep brown. If you want to keep with the Craftsman style, the wall paint color should be an earth tone, and with a variety of artwork going in, a neutral would be best so it doesn't compete with the art, and keeps it cozy. Usually art is hung at eye level, but if you're doing it more as an installation, the salon style (hanging it collage style) is perfect for an eclectic collection. I go all the way up to the ceiling. I'm not keen on the idea of painting the furniture, but I do love the colors in the duvet shown above and I love the idea of hanging the art installation style. I've seen some rooms with various shades of grey wall paint and I like the look of the grey with the white furniture. Any ideas?

You could leave the furniture as is and think about painting an accent wall of a different, bold color or using a patterned wallpaper. Maybe use a grey for the main walls and use the wallpaper/bold color of choice for the wall behind the bed. That would add some interest and character to the room and you could hang your art accordingly.

Peltier Interiors you read my mind...;-) I have been looking at designs that incorporate accent walls--do you think having an accent paint color on the wall behind then bed AND having the art gallery adjacent (floor to ceiling) would be too much? And could I use the willow creek paint color above as the accent with the cool breeze walls? or vice versa??

This room already has a hint of a tropical theme to it. Why not fully transform it into a tropical room? :)

Jeannie Ngyuen I like your comment--we are tropical people for sure and a lot of our art is from Cuba, Nigeria, and Belize. Would love to hear more ideas for a tropical theme.

Keep the furniture as is. See if facing your bed another direction would give you more space. Since your art is important I would go with a large grouping instead of the bold accent wall. I would consider adding colorful or mirrored knobs to your end tables & maybe hanging pendants above instead of lamps. Once the artwork is placed, then look at bedding to compliment. If its ver colorful, stick w neutral bedding using lots of textures for interest. If it seems somewhat monochromatic, then bring color into the bedding. Pillows & throws are perfect ways to add color and or texture

Wow michigammemon--very much in tune with one approach I had considered.. Do you think I could re-frame the large oil painting (reclining woman) that hangs on the wall adjacent to the bed and re -hang over the bed? I tried it there before but it seemed to compete with the line of the headboard (visually). And what can I do for windows? Whatever I use has to fit over the existing black out shades. I'd also like to show more of the french doors by having the window covers there hang on the door rather than the molding above. What do you think?

didi45 the room is so small there is no other way to position the bed. Really like your idea of pendants instead of lamps--more space on the tables, more interesting visually. And changing the hardware on the end tables sounds very cool--maybe some interesting ceramics? Would you change the ones on the dresser too, or do you think that's too "matchy match"?

I would just do the end tables but you could always add a lamp or object that tie the colors together. If you do an art wall so to speak, a good way to see it before hanging is to lay them on the floor, a lot easier to switch around too.

I usually like antique white walls but with white furniture ( or white cabinets) to make your furniture really pop, I would choose a medium brown, blue or green. Your artwork is beautiful!

Replace sheers with panels in a dark gray. Take art of girl and place over bed hang 6" from top of headboard. Like dresser and how you have art there. Walls look blue gray? You could go a darker version of same Revere Pewter by Ben Moore is nice. You need new bedding. Go a very dark gray, use 4 shames in white. Put black and gray pillows mix with green from dress in picture. Add bigger lamp in the lime green base and black shade. On wall with girl. Add your art from travels. Using bigger ones in middle and working out. You could cover most of wall hang low, don't go all the way to ceiling leave 20". For a small amt of money could have a cozy room.

Put your silver lamp on dresser.

I would actually recommend removing the sheers and going with a roman shade . I think it will open the space up alot theres not to much room for the drapery. The roman shades will fit inside the frames for a really clean modern look.

Paint the furniture black, high gloss.

Paint the walls Bm Affinity Spa or Grasshopper, which ever is the match to her dress.

Put your lady in green over the bed.

For your windows, a similar,green tone faux silk to the floor panels.
