Yes, a photo is needed. Do you need privacy or light control? Is this more for decorative reasons? Either a flat roman shade or panels would work great. Since you already had high ceilings, you don't need to accentuate that with putting the treatment up high. Depending on the size of the window and how much wall space there is above, 6-10" is a good starting point. If there's a view out the window, this amount will allow a roman shade to stack up out of the way. Panels if there is some room to stack them back onto the wall left and right of the window.

................and then you could have the panels plus a simple shade for the privacy.............roller, roman, woven wood, etc.

Thank you all. This is the picture. I need privacy at night and I need to cover direct light for the day. But the view is beautiful and I don't want to block it during he day. Also, I love Roman shades and curtains as well. Ceiling is vaulted and pretty high. I am attaching the picture.

Might I suggest a pleated or cellular shade that operates from the top or bottom?

Thank you Gordon's. I feel that this idea is too plain for the home office. I would like to see if something more decorative would work. I have dark wood furniture and it's more like transitional style. What should I do with the upper window.
