My only goal is to figure out what I want to do next. That sometimes takes awhile - especially when it's Spring and lots of stuff to do outside.

I’m embroidering... I’m not super experienced so it’s taking a while. I’d love to finish it up this month so I can move onto to quilting in April for my Madeline book inspired quilt.

Woohoo, Valarie! Congratulations on retirement! We met with our financial guy a couple of weeks ago and he pointed out that it's 8 years and 8 months for me...is that too early to start counting the days? LOL

I've been working on a huge cross stitch project. I started it several years ago, and I work on it in spurts when the mood strikes. This particular spurt has been going for a couple of months and I think it's winding down. :) But, I don't have any other projects jumping out at me, so I'll keep stitching for now.

Sharon asked about "sewing space". Well that is still under construction. After the flood, I told DH it would be at least six months before things were finished. Well, it was six months last week. I have revised that time to six months from the time work started. So the end of June can't come soon enough.

Meanwhile, I manage to keep busy at the kitchen table with strings.

March goal is to do the borders on the little girls' quilts. The pieced centers have been finished for months but those borders have been giving me the "willies". There are four borders, and for me, every border is a time for waviness. So I finally decided to sew the four together and then add that piece as one border. It will also mean mitreing the corners. The strips are cut so wish me luck.

I'm finishing a quilt for a friend with leukemia. I also have a hot air balloon quilt to finish, and want to quilt my bow tie (from birthday blocks) top.

I also need to get my Janome in the shop (she is being hard to get along with these days), and GOTTA clean the sewing room.

Well, my only goal was to figure out what to do next and lo and behold, a brainstorm happened yesterday and I almost have the top done!!! I wanted something simple and decided to do a one-block quilt. It's basically a log cabin block with different colored concentric strips going outward. Each round is a different color with a common background neutral round between each strip. I'll post it when it's done, easier to understand with a photo than trying to explain it here.

Sounds interesting, Rita. I look forward to the pic. I think I already posted that I started a new quilt. The idea was a 10" block with a fish print, alternated with 10" strip blocks. However, I don't like the strip blocks next to the fish print now that I've made a few. So I think I'll make it all strip blocks and use the fish print for backing. The fish print has been bugging me for some time and I'll be happy to use it up as backing on a couple of quilts.

Bev, I had a fish print like that, too. It was cream background with green fish, and I have no idea how I got ahold of it. I kept using small enough pieces that you couldn't tell it was fish, then finally used it as backing for a quilt for my BIL. He thought it was cool!

Beverly, I'm sorry about your friend. You mentioned hot air balloon which reminded me I have a UFO with hot air balloon fabric that should be worked on.....so many UFOs but I've been working on them. Three done and 2 more almost done this year.

Go, Rita!!! Sometimes and thought dives in and there it is! Can't wait to see what you've got going on.

Do it, Bev! That fish fabric will be gone before you know it.

Don't forget, National Quilting Day is March 17th this year. I usually work on a special project that day and this year I'm planning on using this pattern: http://swimbikequilt.com/2013/08/finished-quilts-star-bright-quilt.html .... but using purple for the background and maybe teal for the star. If I like how it looks, and it shouldn't be that difficult to put together, this pattern will be a go-to for a quick and easy when needed. Can you just imagine the various colors you could put together? And such a neat way to use up some of those bigger scraps of fabric.

Snowing in S. Illinois again. Spring cannot come too soon! I have two mariner's compass quilts basted with my trusty water soluble thread, but I need to think about the quilting plan. Will post pics as soon as I get them done!
