I had considered putting a long rod up all the way across with sheer-ish curtains that I could pull apart all the way — kind of like a stage curtain...bad idea? I’m not averse to Roman shades...

Put the blinds on all three -- only the length would be different. You could also use a simple roller blind. But the curtains all the way across would look great. I recommend hanging them close to the ceiling, but the trim looks thick/deep. I wonder if that would be a problem?

I wouldn’t use sheers in a bedroom; at night it’ll be like they aren’t even there. I agree roman shades would be the best. I would want the window treatments to be consistent across all the windows.

If you do drapes, they will have to be nice and wide to cover your window; off the shelf panels won’t work. Drapes could look nice as a backdrop for your settee when they’re closed, and they will frame it when they are open.

Your windows are gorgeous! I understand needing privacy and light control in the bedroom. I would definitely do an inside mount, so you don't cover up the trim. Since it's an older home, I think a type of Roman shade would fit best with the style of the house.

I would use cafe shutters! They would look great with the center window. I hope that you do not choose any other blinds/shades unless they are Roman shades.

Roman blinds are nice but they only close from the top down. There are shades that close top down or bottom up. I would get those.

I'm sure there are some differences in operating systems between brands, but Hunter Douglas Roman shades can operate from the bottom up only, top down only, and top-down/bottom-up.

First thing is at night, leave the lights on in the room then go outside and take a look so you can see exactly what others might see. That will help you determine the degree of privacy you need and whether or not you need to treat the center window at all. Hopefully not.

I might then try inside mounted panel of fabric on each of the left and right windows just to the sill that each get pulled back to the far side for day time to a hook, and then let loose to cover the windows at night.
