^This. I've hired a home stager and it was originally about the same price as Beth H's stager. The set up and take down was $800 (total) plus a modest monthly fee. We only needed one month because it sold immediately after staging so it was less than we planned.

The advantage with a home staging co is the artwork and accessories come with the furniture. You end up with a completed room(s).

The best thing to do when you you're starting out as a home stager is to purchase your own furniture and accessories. You'll lose money through renting home staging accessories. You'll need at lease 10-$15,000 for your staging inventory. Make sure when buying your furniture and accessories, that you can use the items again.

So buy neutral colored furniture. Try buying from Craigslist, Ross, Tuesday Morning, Home Goods, Big Lots, Pier 1.

Make sure you have a good contract, that states no refunds clearly. Get a 50% deposit before starting. Try not to make a deal by waiting on escrow.

Things get weird towards the sell ending.
