Couple of questions.......are the leeks also being grown in a container? Are the plants indoors or out? If inside, how much light do they receive? And have you fertilized and what sort of potting soil did you use? Answers to these can help us provide better answers to you :-))

And are you growing the leeks specifically for the flowers? Because once they produce a flowering stem the leeks themselves are pretty much done for as vegetables. They're actually not that simple.

Leeks are not exactly beginner's veg. They are usually started early in trays, and when they are about pencil-thick, they are transplanted into trenches outside, about 5" deep. As leeks get bigger, the trenches get gradually filled in with soil which creates the white edible part. You can grow them in narrow, tall containers and gradually fill them with potting mix to bury the stem and blanch it.

Your leek is bolting (producing a flower), which means it was probably started at worm temperatures, then exposed to some cold weather, and now it is experiencing warm temps again. It thinks the period of cold weather was winter, and now it's time to flower and produce seeds. But I'm only guessing... Anyway, at this stage it's not good to eat.
