I just painted a room "Filmy green" by sherwin williams and it is the most wonderful color. I think it'd look awesome with the brick.

A very rich color e.g., purple. You have so much light that you can can go dark. Bold colors work well in modern designs.

What a great opportunity. My suggestion is to get the Color 911 app - The app for instant help with color, which is loaded with color themes!! You can choose one you like (in each one the colors go together beautifully) anyways choose the one you like and you are ready to start selecting paint colors and go shopping! If you choose the paint color from the theme, when you go to the paint store to buy the paint, simply show them the color from the color palette by enlarging it (tap 3x) and they can give you the paint color on the spot,. I have done it many times!

I like the architectural treatment of the room photos above. White or cream walls with dark wood floors. This gives you a blank slate for art and bed clothes of any color today, and another palette next year.

I would pick a gorgeous chinese red to echo the brick pillar for the headboard wall. and http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW2839-roycroft-copper-red/ you can also test fireweed, and possibly fired brick - bring home lots of paint chips and hold them up to your brick until you get the right shade but at least as deep, and best case a little bit darker.

Your fan is worth changing out to something modern and large enough to make a statement - try to find a modern profile with blades that match the tone of the wood floor, and possibly have black hardware so your black slider is repeated somewhere. Add a black frame to artwork that you hang on the opposite wall, for instance. Count me in the jealous camp too.

What kind of feel are you going for in your bedroom? What colors equate to that feel for you? Light and bright or dark and cozy? I agree that you should consider the art you want in the room, and coordinate the colors if they generate the feel you want in this space. Use the technology of computers to narrow down the choices so you can get an overall idea of what the paint will look like on the walls before you buy. Then get some samples and apply a large square of it on the walls, or on a large poster board that you tape to the wall, and view it for several days in the different light from morning to night. Do you want modern, rustic, industrial or a different style? Have you considered a wood panelled wall or more brick in a veneer? Good luck!

You can google mid century modern colours. I would keep brick natural, walls white, walnut look floors and add these colours as accents with furnishings, etc.
