Wood flooring question?

We installed a beautiful Acacia wood floor (thanks for the tip, Beth) in a medium stain. Someone suggested that we now put a matte finish over the aluminum oxide factory finish for longevity/protection? Is this a good idea? And if so, what product would you suggest?

This is a 118 year old home that we just gutted. The flooring is throughout the new kitchen and open living/dining room. We have nine children and the floor will see much use (abuse). Is this idea totally crazy?

No. I believe you will void the warranty on the floor if you did that. Also, the factory finish is a lot more durable than any product you would find at a home improvement store. You should follow the recommended maintenance plan of the company. They are very nice though!

Please don’t add any other finish. The prior owners of my home added poly to the top of my factory finished floors. The poly is scratched and is debonding from the floor. What a mess. I will have to replace the floors to resell the house. Now I have rugs everywhere. I would prefer bare floors. Maybe you could make a no shoes in the house rule for your children. I’ll bet they would love that.

Great job on your beautiful floors in your newly renovated 118 year old house, but more of a congratulations goes to you for having 9 children! You rock! No shoes in the house. I love the Bona 'Professional' Series Wood Floor Cleaner. I just do a light vacuum over my floors, then use their little mop with spray microfiber cloth attachment.....(not that you asked). ;-). And you had time to do this reno when? LOL

We are a no shoes house, but I just wanted to make certain this would not be helpful.
And, yes, 9 beautiful blessings. We are so blessed and desperately NEED our kitchen
