I’m through with calligraphy season aka wedding season, so I was wanting to accessorize the ottoman tray. The silk flowers you see have been made for the space, but the acrylic water has not been poured, so they can be edited and reshaped. It’s my starting point, what do you think?
Lynartist, I know you have the knack to copy/paste accessories, so I hope u see this Post. How did you fare during the recent hurricane?...I thought about you.

Dining room wall. Should I buy wall scones to hang on both side of the china hutch? They are 41” long x 8” wide. I saw these on Houzz.

Should I buy a pair of lamps for the built-ins? They would be placed on top the built-in base on both sides of the fireplace. For your visual, I photographed the built-ins without the John Richard Mercury Vase which is where the lamps would go if I were buy them. Here’s a Houzz photo of lamps in the built-ins that inspired me. I like the shape and organic feel to it. What do you think?

Hi Secluded! I don't think you need the sconces in the dining room. As for the living room, are the shelves removable? I like your inspiration, but think it works because the space above is open. Hopefully @lynartist will check in too.

The flower arrangement is very pretty. Since it's going on the tray, I'd check the height with people sitting in the furniture to make sure it doesn't obstruct views. It's hard to tell from the picture. Do you use or move the tray often? That would affect styling in my opinion.

The window shape makes rods a challenge, but nubby sheets would be pretty. What about a faux Roman to dress it up a bit or are you looking for privacy?

I just noticed your shutters look like they open inward. Do you ever open them? I would go white or neutral so they go with everything. The room looks rather formal so I'm not sure the drape look works, but I like the softness it adds and since it would be faux you might be able to get away with it. Do the windows have a fabulous view of anything?

The rods will have to be custom (no problem). I love the ceiling to floor in your picture. So far so good Molly! Question: Should the window treatment puddle on the floor and if so, how much?
I just Posted my ottoman tray to Design Dilemma since I never heard from Tedbixby and Lynartist. I hope they’re okay.

I wouldn't do any puddling, they will just get dirty and if you open/close the drapes you will always be fiddling with them.

Lynn is around, but may be busy closing up before heading back to FL. Haven't seen Ted in a while.

Hi! Secluded! Your home is coming along. I didn't have time to read all the way back. Trying to catch up. Sad to say, hubby has been in and out of the hospital and he is back in with 4 broken toes he obtained falling in the kitchen. So, I am glad to get away from all that by jumping on Houzz often! Flo I think if you read starting on 9/19 you will be caught up. The furniture, pillows and ottoman in the LR are all brand new. Secluded is looking to style the ottoman tray and maybe bookcases by the fireplace and dress the dining room windows.

Secluded Flo is down in TX too. She's been a great help with my dilemma. ;)

Secluded, you still messing with that tray I see. The tray looks to dark to me and uninteresting. Have you tried a gold metal tray? I think the tray needs to be more of a WOW factor and then you don't have to concern yourself with decorating it and can be used to hold the remote, magazines and a place for drinks and snacks to land on. Maybe something antique and heavy looking? And I think round shape would give more interest.

I think the sofa table is where you need to do some styling. And yes, you still need to get a table to put between the 2 chairs.

Still working on the Mt Home :) It's looking great if I may say so myself. We are still working on this and that but the main focus being on the basement right now as OP added a bedrm down there. OP and her husband did this accent wall in that bedrm this past week-end. They did all the piecing and staining/painting of the boards themselves. We are still looking for a bed and reason the mattress is on the floor. She has been renting it out since July 4th.

Secluded- I came across this tray and thought that you might want to consider painting the interior of your tray to give it more life and it also makes it become more of an artsy piece and then maybe you won't have to be concern with styling it.

Hi, Wow, that’s amazing. Last week I saw these trays that got me thinking about painting my tray. I’m seriously thinking about trying a dark teal circular pattern inside the square tray.

Tedbixby, Thank you for your inspiration picture, it helped. What do you think of the painted tray in my LA? The paint is on glass for practice so as soon as the design and tone is in harmony with the room, the wood tray will be painted on.

Here are my thoughts: paint volume is heavy, the circle can be expanded and the dots can b less crowded. The ocher could b orange like the sofa blankets.

Light has been added to the BI’s, live plants, photo.

Ps. Pls excuse the sofa sheet..we ate dinner on it while watching the boob tube!

I like the dot pattern but not the empty corners. What about some type of simple mandala pattern? I don’t like the eyeball look in the first one, but like the petal shape.

I would do more neutral throws.
