How interesting! I came here to repost this, because when I looked for yesterday, it was nowhere to be seen - not in 'Unanswered', or my activity either.

Well I only recently came upon HT but I DO see what you're talking about & it's EXTREMELY CONFUSING. I'd second the suggestion.

I thought only Site Moderators could delete posts (other than an individual deleting their own post, which I don't understand either, having never done that.)

Wouldn't have thought one poster could delete another's post, yet that seems to be the inference here.

Clarification from Emily &/or the SIte Moderator(s) would be most welcome! I'm sure by more than a few of us!

No, I did not mean that at all - sorry for the confusion. if you flag a post it's pulled for review by moderators, and I guess if determined to be in violation, it is then deleted by moderators. Not sure what the protocol is for notifying people, since I've never experienced it myself.

You can delete your own comments in a discussion, but not anyone else's.When you start a post, you can only delete it for a limited time, and I understand once other people comment, you cannot delete it.

Some folks have complained that people flag gratuitously, and/or delete their own comments, when discussions get hot. I think it would be helpful to see whether someone has deleted their own comment, or the post was flagged. It might act as a slight deterrent to undesirable behavior as well.
