I think it looks fine and will appear more balanced once the painting is completed. No to shutters. Landscaping will make a huge improvement. What color will the door be? It should be a focal point. Hold off on any changes until painting is done.

Nothing wrong with the size of the window, but I can't stop looking at the different sized gables. More paint will help and an ornamental tree to beef up the left side of the house could help.

Landscaping will solve all! Put a couple of nice, bushy, rather tall shrubs on that side that seems a bit bare to you - it will cover all that siding.
