96” fan? Yikes…hope your space is big…20’ x 20’ or larger.

I doubt that hanging a fan from a 12' long rod will result in a happy ending since the slightest imbalance will causer it to wobble. It might be helpful if you posted a picture or a drawing, but right now I can't think of an alternate solution if you want to hang a fan far down from a 28' ceiling. What kind of house is this, anyway?
