Thanks those cabinets on either side of the fireplace are already gone the previous owner took them, We do plan to remove that mantel & we plan to clad the fireplace with dark shiplap and hang our TV there.

How does shiplap work with the style of your home? The details don't indicate this is a farmhouse style. Just paint the brick before you spend any real money.

The kitchen will look similar to these photos not as modern as the middle but with the same range hood. Thanks for the advice our first thought was to paint the fireplace but weren't sure how to hide the cords if we hung the TV there?

Don't place the TV over the fireplace. It's not the correct height for viewing and you have space on both sides of the FP

Any change to the floor? If not, are you happy with the grays you've selected to work with it?

Not thrilled with the floor but we can't afford to change it at this time. Hopefully in a few years we will change it! & the grays I have selected seem to work with the floor & the gray grout. I will be using some large neutral area rugs to cover some of the floor.

you could try and sell you door, and get something a little more farmhouse modern that you seem to like.

I'd also redo the transom to a square style

you could also paint your door white, and get two window side lights to replace your side panels. wouldn't be as expensive.

Thanks. We actually looked at some doors today. Maybe down the road we will replace it. This house is a labor of love every surface needed paint & work Inside & out! Looks like it will be a multi year project!

Just a FYI- if you floors are saltillo tile you can always have them colored or stained.

We have been trying to find information on how to do that but haven't had much luck? Do you know anyone that actually had it done?

What is your decorating style exactly? I like the terra cotta colored tile flooring with white millwork and cool gray walls. You could leave the brick fireplace and go into and industrial style. If not, I think painting the brick is a good plan. I like the example of it painted charcoal. For sure get a large beautiful rug you absolutely love. I like the door and highlights the way they are. Staining them dark would be stunning, but definitely should be done by a pro. From personal experience stripping and staining large items is intense and easy to get wrong. Your room can look really nice with some good choices until you want to attack some larger projects. Large rug, good sofa and side chairs, tables and great accessories and artwork. There you go

That is a good question I would say Transitional? I like a mix of old and new! Probably leaning a little more modern. I have tackled some big restaining project in the past but not sure I am up for that door. I have already painted the 3 bebrooms in the house the guest bathroom & all the cabinets in there, the laundry & its cabinets most of the doors , 19 of the 23 windows and most of the trim.
