Why not the color of the siding?

Yes to the siding color or Beverly's example. Definitely not white or black.

not black for the garage (but I do like the idea of painting your shutters black-- that will look much better!)

I agree with others that coordinating the door color to your siding would work better-- like what Beverly posted. not matchy-matchy, but a color that's like your siding but lighter or darker.

With your house I would do same colour as the house.

If you make shutters black I would make all trim black too.

With your lovely stone, why not go with brown wood-look shutters and matching garage doors and trim

i like the black shutter idea. wondering why you picked such a bright white for your trim and around the door? I think a warm putty color would have been a better choice

or a soft gray like they did hear.

I like the suggestion of going with your siding color. I like your red shutters, but have to admit the black is striking.

I don't think I can redo all of the trim now but agree that it would look better after seeing your suggestion. Again, never thought about it. But I like it! Thoughts on just painting a putty color around the front door now and leaving the rest of the trim as is?

doesn't even have to be a dark putty, it could be a softer white too. just seems like the white you picked is very stark in contrast to the deep grays, heavy stone, blacks, etc. Even a swiss coffee or navajo white could have been a bit better. Try a very pale gray or silver (or whatever you're going to paint the garage doors) around the door trim and see how it looks. you can always go back to white if you don't like it.

You're suggestions are super! I actually got the brightest white i could find for around the door. It looked a lot better but now I don't like it at all

the white trim is not great but not the worst either. start with your original plan of painting the shutters and garage door. that will make a huge difference. you can always do your trim later!

Thanks for all of the advice. I just painted both porch floors in a dark taupe gray and painted the columns and trim around the front door and garage silver satin and it looks amazing. Shutters are getting painted this weekend and the 3 garage doors that Beth H suggested will be arriving next week thanks everyone:)

Well, garage doors have arrived and are waiting to be installed but..... the shutters have been painted!!!! What a difference!!!
