I have never liked cultured marble and it is in my mind very dated. Why not look at extra large format tile instead.

What is it about the cultured marble that seems dated to you? He showed me pictures and they seemed modern enough. He said it is made out of marble powder and resin. It's so hard for me to make a decision without seeing it in person!

The maintenance ..installation...seem good...but the aesthetics seem a little boring..especially in white...

I have it and it was installed in the house before I got here. Works great.............except the previous owners selected an off white that has some minor veining which I hate. I want pure white.

If you can't get pure white from that company then go with Corian. You just squeegee the walls for cleaning.

Kohler Choreograph is not white-white either, it is very light gray (but we love ours anyways).

I used to have something like what BeverlyFLADeziner described -- off white with minor veining. I didn't like the color but LOVED how it always looked clean, even though it was pretty old. I love the look of tile, but the grout needs to be so carefully maintained or it will start to get moldy spots or eventually discoloration that's impossible to bleach out. I'd much rather have a plain blank wall instead! (maybe I'm shellshocked because my last rental had 1x1" tile with old grout. pretty, but a nightmare to take care of.)

Thank you for all of the input. Unfortunately it fell through with the only contractor I know who does it, so it looks like the shower will be tiled.

Try Swanstone- solid surface and available box stores like Home Depot. Comes standard sizes for shower or bath as well as custom sizes. Easy contractor install.

Don’t do tile unless your installer actually understands proper waterproofing. Many do not.

@prosource: He just puts green sheetrock behind it, which is pretty typical for this product because the solid surface doesn’t have grout.

I had asked for hardi board with red membrane painted on and he thought that was overkill and unnecessary

Find a new contractor. For sure. Greenboard hasn’t been allowed since 2006 IRC 702.3.8
