The art and decor comes and goes depending on my mood. For some reason the pics look somewhat distorted maybe because I took as portrait. The tv stand - agree- I hate it.

Janet - The room, as you noted the measurements is 11' wide not 14??

So I laid it out that way, per your numbers. If it is in fact 14' wide, that makes things work better. Not sure of your budget, but if possible I would sell the chair you have and purchase two swivel chairs, because their size is smaller and would be more functional for your space. I would get a 48 to 54" long TV console and put the TV on the long wall. I am not sure what size your rug is?? I made this one 8 x 8 square. You might be able to use that console table as your TV table? Not sure size.

I put a 84" x 40" deep sofa in this drawing so you would have an additional 4" of depth. The swivel chairs are usually around 31x31" I also would change the coffee table if possible. The whites have a feeling of "floating" so you need some contrast to ground your room. Check this out and then we can deal with accessories and mantel styling, etc.

The coffee table is kind of new so would like to keep. I have a blind dog and so I replaced a rectangle one we had so she wouldn’t keep smacking her head. And the white doesn’t show dust - lol.

And yes, width is closer to 14. Fireplace width is 87.75 left side is 44.25 and right is 34.25.

Sheep is so cute. I will update drawing and coffee table tomorrow. I see the fireplace is wider than previous number so that is difference in dimensions.

I like the sofa on the long wall so you can exhibit some colorful artwork. That would place the TV to the right of the fireplace, and I would consider a corner unit or a wall mounted bracket for the TV. I have simply adjusted your photo to illustrate the options.

Thank you! I will look into corner units. A couple months ago I moved that bookcase to the wall right of the slider just to see I’m attaching that pic. That picture on wall next to it is the circuit breaker box - would you recommend Just painting it the wall color? Should I just get rid of shelves?

I like Flo Mangan's layout, especially the TV placement.

The problem with placing the TV on the big wall is that you're always looking for additional items to add to the wall and that's just wasting money IMO

I know it’s really frowned upon but I’m thinking of tv over the fireplace. I can’t get enough of a angle going in that corner for the tv and it’s not really that big. Then put swivel recliner by that area somewhat in front of slider. Here’s my crappy photo shop showing what I’m thinking.

TV over mantel will be problematic on a number of levels in your room. Is your fireplace wood burning? It looks like painted brick. Is their cable connection and electrical outlet up there? If not, make sure you can get them in there. Then how will you handle connections for speakers? Wire management. I still like TV on longer wall but that wall in living room space so no issue with that wall. I can come up with good ways to manage that. Sorry, I haven’t redone the drawing. Fighting a ear blockage. Ugh. It hurts!! Bbl

No worries - I just really want to comfortably fit another chair in there when I get rid of chaise. I tend to use couch and lay down to watch tv and husband has used the chaise and daughter in the chair. The fireplace we converted to gas with glass. I know neighbors were able to mount there tv with no issues on the brick. Sorry about your ear - I hope it feels better.

Thanks for ear tips! I have wax build up. Way deep. Probably going to have to get ENT doc to dig out. But trying drops and flushing first. It is helping because not as sore. OK. Back to regular programming! Haha. Two more options with revised room sizing. If you put sofa on longer wall you could mount TV on pull out turn mount to left of TV OR over TV if last resort.

I sneaked in using white coffee table as end table. Figured a couple ottomans would help seat more at sofa in Option 2.

Oh wow - that looks really nice too! Love you put the sheep in too! In the meantime I tried shoving tv to corner s far as I could. We don’t use any of that equipment in cabinet anymore. We are going to switch to all online and Apple TV soon.

Personally, I don’t like the TV crammed into corners. Better over mantel especially if you can hide wires in wall and you can Velcro any cable receiver behind TV. That frees up corner for chair too.

Another old ear remedy for wax....heat up olive oil ...eyedropper into ear lay head on side and wait 5-10 minutes ...then roll to other side and oil may have melted wax enough to drain...anything better than going to a doctor ...going anywhere really!

I threw a piece of cardboard up there it’s the same width as actual tv and about 5” taller. Just to visualize.

Looks tall for the space above mantel. Maybe if you changed the ceiling fixture to something flatter?

Maybe a easel TV holder could work better in that corner?

That would probably work I don’t know if I love that look though. I found a old pic from when the tv was in other corner and I was trying re-arrange things back then. Also realized all this furniture is 10 years old - time flies!

Oh I’d change it all out if money was no object. Husband is very adverse to change. Every morning I angle that chaise towards the couch because is looks better and every day he moves straight facing the tv and he puts snacks all over that shelf and the hearth. This stay at home thing is killing me!

Haha, man I think he needs some further training. My hubby would think I was sick if I didn't change things up frequently! Give him some yard projects!

I tend to change smaller things and he doesn’t notice but bigger stuff he can be cheap. I wanted to redo powder room finally came up with plan he could get behind when I tiled floor with 6000 pennies- $60.00. That time was easy to persuade him lol!
