Kimberly ferns after winter & cutting dead from it

last modified: 6 years ago

Zone 7 (7a) Photo of 2 Kimberly ferns, have had for several years & brought in to winter them each year. Prior years have used plant/grow lights but did not use them this winter.

When they were brought in, I cut loads of dead from each. Fertilized once over the winter, 1 Miracle-Gro spoonful in a gallon of water. Watered somewhat regularly, about 1/2-1 gallon at a time (until it began coming out at bottom of container). Used a garden sprayer to water the fronds every few days.

From the photo, they don’t look great. Moved last year, now have them on a large deck that gets a lot of shade. Maybe an hour of sunlight at mid day.

What can can I do to help them fill out better & look better?
