What are your preferences? And why Miele, specifically?

I have the WWH860 & TWF180 and would definitely buy again.

As you compare the base model wwb020 going up to the wwh860 you are gaining more options/cycles. The reason I would buy the wwh860 again is because it's the only model that offers Quickintense wash, the Singlewash function and also has a secondary water pump. Singlewash I use constantly for loads under 2lbs and the cycles are very short. The secondary pump kicks in during multiple cycles, I find it works well.

On dryer, the twf160/180 are the same except the 180 has the glass door and offers a steam function. I rarely use the steam function, but like having the option and the steam function I like to use to freshen up jackets/heavier items because it uses hot steam it's almost like a sanitize for dry clothes.

On the PW6068, great machine but since the new Little Giants are coming out soon if you have time then I would wait. The drums will be bigger on the new models. You would be losing TwinDos on any Little Giant model.

@mtvhike We are set on Miele now after a horrifying experience with $4500 Asko pair that is going back.

@Cal Thank You! Unfortunately no time to wait on the new LiGi but we can get a bit of a discount on the 6068. Drum size is not an issue But the TwinDos are tempting. Is the TwinDos technology (not the convenience factor but correct detergent dosing) worth it to get the 860 vs 6068 in your opinion?

We are rejecting the LiGi dryer because as I understand, the current model is condenser and not heat pump, correct?

Would you pick the 860 or the 6068 if were offered either?

Also does anyone know if the T1 dryer can be stacked on top of the LiGi washer? Miele customer service was no help here but this https://www.mieleusa.com/e/washer-dryer-stacking-kit-wtv-502-9256140-p says "any Miele washer"?

TwinDos definitely took some time to get used to. For two reasons 1) The level of detergent they recommend seems to be way too high for North America 2) Previous washer left so much detergent build-up it took forever to flush from the clothes. However once I acclimated, I'm not sure I would go back to not having it. The detergent lasts forever when you dial the settings down to better levels.

I was about to order the 6068 but the 860 came out so I went with the 860 instead because I liked the features. For the 6068, I liked the stronger heater and more customization of cycles. However, after having done so many 170f sanitize cycles on the 860, I think the heat is more than enough (Some of my towels are falling apart from the constant 170f washings). The other thing on the 6068 is you can set many rinses and also do warm water rinses. On the 860, you can get around this by using the 'extra rinse' and express cycle if you want to do a 20 minute double/triple extra rinse.

Yes, current LiGi is condenser. I haven't used the condenser LiGi, but the heat pump on the 160/180 has exceeded expectations. I actually really love the Fragrance Pods for this dryer because I don't use fabric softener.

BTW on the stacking kit, for the W1/T1 the stacking kit now actually screws directly into the plastic top of the washing machine (That's why it's important to make sure it's even before they screw it down). Also once you screw it down, there's no going back because you will have holes on the top of the washing machine. On the PW6068, I'm not sure if the top lid is made of plastic or metal.

I did see comments from people that the stacking bracket is drilled into the top of the machine which is weird and almost puts me off the stacking idea all together...

Do you know if the LiGi washers use up all detergent that is placed into the tray on a wash or can the LiGi washer measure amount of detergent needed?

Have you used the dryer steam function to simply refresh clothes and is it effective? i.e. gets rid of sweat? if so, i think that feature alone is worth the dryer upgrade

Yes, I have the stacking kit for the W1/T1 that has the drawer (I really like having the drawer, it's good to catch clean items as you pull them out of the dryer). I was surprised that it had to be screwed/drilled into the washing machine lid. If you do get this, make sure you watch the installer to ensure it's perfectly aligned.

LiGi will use all detergent that is placed into the detergent drawer, there is no automatic dosing. For this reason, TwinDos is perfect if you have others that do laundry -- the machine will dispense the detergent to what you've already set it to use. Great to ensure there is no overdosing and suds for your laundry.

I have used the steam on the dryer to refresh clothes, like wool suit pants. It works well for this. Scent wise it won't do much, but if you have the dryer Flacon (Scent cartridge) it will add some scent to the fabric. I like to put down items, like pillows, into the dryer on Freshen Up cycle with the flacon installed because it helps fluff the down and also freshen up the scent.

@Cal Is there an additional bracket on the back that holds the stacked machines together? (this is how Asko is) and if not, does the dryer move around/vibrate? seems like drilled into plastic top would wear out over time...

Nope, no bracket on the back for the W1/T1 stack. It's literally just screwed into the lid of the washer. The previous model W3048 involved removing the washer's lid and it was screwed directly into the frame of the washer.

I think the reason for this is the W1 is very solid and doesn't move. With the dryer attached using the stacking kit, there is some give. For example you could push the dryer and it will have some give like a shock absorber. It's not going anywhere.

On the dryer, I've tried the steam function on a bunch of items. One time, I thought the pillowcases had some creases, so I put them into the dryer on steam function and they were gone. Also great for dress shirts.

Another great thing about the 180's glass window is being able to monitor the drying of items like sheets and making sure they haven't turned into a ball. Miele is very good about reversing on the Bed Linens cycle, but bunching of sheets has happened on any size washer/dryer I have used. So having the window is great.

Glad I found this thread. It seemed counterintuitive to have to screw directly into the finished lid of the washer, but now that I know that it's supposed to be that way, I can install it. There was one discrepancy in the instructions I've found on YouTube and that's that the 15mm leveling adjustment for the feet of the dryer might be slightly more than is necessary to achieve a perfect gap that matches the bottom of the stacking unit where it connects to the washer. I saw where someone recommended no more than 11-12mm...I guess it's just a matter of adjusting if it's not just right.
