Medley Furniture experience?

Hi all, I'm looking at the Mota sectional couch from Medley Furniture (I like their focus on product safety!). Anyone have experience with this company? Did ordering go smoothly, and do you like your couch?! Thanks very much!

Did you end up purchasing it? I'm also curious. Thanks!

Rebecca - I did! We love it! We got the Mota corner sectional and it is very comfy, with lovely fabric. It didn't smell and I love that I don't have to worry about flame retardants or other chemicals. We had to wait about 6 weeks for it to be made, but they email often to give updates on the progress of its construction, which is awesome. I also emailed customer service a few times with questions and they were very helpful and quick to respond. Highly recommend!

This is awesome, thanks so much for responding! What fabric did you end up getting? Still debating between this from Medley and one from Maiden Home (which advertises as free of chemicals but I'm skeptical about their claims).

Of course! Yeah if you look at maiden home faqs they say the fabrics are sunbrella or crypton. Crypton is treated with PFAS. https://www.crypton.com/support/frequently-asked-questions/. The medley stuff isn't treated for stain resistance but you can remove and wash the seat cushion covers. We went with the Bennett charcoal fabric. It's a nice balance - some visible weave but a smooth feel to the fabric.

Thanks! That's what I thought re: Crypton, but the Maiden Home website says "Crypton® Home is also Greenguard Gold Certified, meaning it is free of harmful chemicals such as VOCs, flame retardants, PBDEs and formaldehyde." Unclear therefore if Crypton changed the way they manufacture because they wouldn't be certified otherwise.

Either way, good to know that that Medley is a vetted option!

Greenguard is targeted at VOCs and PFAS are not volatile. So yes they have low VOC foam and wood but the fabric does not appear to be PFAS free. Lots of potential chemicals out there and certifications are generally only the tip of the iceberg.

I just bought the Moto from Medley. I was between it and Maiden Home but I liked that Medley let me customize. It will be some time until I get it but here is hoping :-)

Hi! I’m curious how your Medley sectional is holding up - I’m considering ordering the Rio sectional, and would love to know if you still recommend them!

So if asking about mine, sadly has not arrived yet. When I bought was supposed to be shipped this coming week so I knew would be awhile. But a few weeks ago they said would be a further delay (was issue was certain supplies after situation in Texas I think). So now predicting mid May. I am trying to be patient and understanding but will be very frustrated if date changes again. Here is hoping works out ...

Also for anyone looking lilfurbug timeline is amazing. Was a much longer prediction for mine when bought even before the issue above. I am still excited about the product and very hopeful they can meet the new deadline gave me, but I am not sure works for anyone who needs it urgently (I actually was fine with original timeline given as was fine as long as I had it by early May when scheduled visitors and that all would have worked out but for new delay, sigh, so just something to watch for).

There have been issues with foam and other furniture supplies for months due to natural disasters and production interruptions - don't think it is their fault.

Michelle - so far it has been amazing and we still love it! Holding up well even with my two children jumping all over it 😜

As an update, I also got my Moto and I love it. So comfy and dog friendly and washable and all things would want. As long as someone can handle the delay, I would highly recommend.

Which fill those of you who purchased Medley sofas/sectionals get? I believe the options are all foam, foam seats/down backs or wool/latex.

We did foam seats/ down back.

Also here is a picture of ours . We lowered the arms.

Thanks for the information. It looks great - and I love the color!

I would also add for those with kids or dogs - our dog is all over ours- including doing some scratching thing to make it comfortable (no idea but she will scratch before sitting) and NO issues at all !

Any other experiences with the MOTA or how sofas from Medley have held up ? I’m in between the crosby from maiden home and the mota from medley and they look very similar :)

    Thanks so much Rosa!

@Christi - We have had ours over a year now, and it's been great. Hasn't lost any bounce, so easy to wash (you can spot clean or wash the WHOLE cushion cover, which is clutch), and we are so happy we chose it! I think the Mota has slightly larger arms than the Crosby.

Thank you ! This sounds amazing. I do think the mota has thicker arm rests than the crosby. I’m not too sure about the height of the arm rests though I am curious about that.

We lowered our arms a lot! We have an open floor plan so I love the low arms with the ballster pillows they suggested as we wanted it open. And added bonus can lay my head on pillow /arm but depends on height you want. Hopefully pictures show pillows. I am so glad added those.

I personally like the arms. I never noticed they were high, ha! I actually think it may be that the back is lower than "usual" so the arms just appear high. I use the arm rest to prop a pillow to lay my head on though, so the arm height is perfect for that ;)

I have a question about the delivery and construction. We want to order a Medley sectional for an upstairs living room, but we're concerned that it won't fit going up the stairs. Is the sectional that you ordered two pieces that were assembled? Thanks!

@Amy De Castro my couch/ chaise was two pieces that hooked together but no idea if all that way. I found them very responsive to questions so I am sure if you email with dimensions they could help on that.

Thanks @Rosa! That is helpful to know.

@Rosa, which seat cushion did you get? And do you like it? I like the Mota, but undecided between the regular foam, down, or double down (down on both seat and back cushions).

@pruis -- We got the regular foam on seat but down mix on back (that may just be the regular down option but i recall it actually means your back cushion is a mix in same one) and have found it to be a great combo.

@Rosa, Thanks for your reply!! I am just concerned that the foam would be too firm or would not hold shape. But I assume that hasn't been the case for you right?

@prius2ny --yes, not been the case at all. The seat is firm, but I don't find it too firm and all my guests have liked it. I am glad I did back cushions partly feather though as does make "softer." I found the people that worked there very helpful and had some good info on web about different "cushions" so i would suggest asking them about different feels as they may have an explanation that helps.

Hi! I realize this is an older post but wondering what fabric that is in your Mota? I love the blue! Also has it held up well? Thanks!

I tried to reply but I am not sure it went through so you may get this twice. My fabric was "Bennnet Indigo" -- I know they have changed some fabrics so not sure if it is still there but I think they said before when I looked (abeit awhile ago) could get some older fabrics still. It has held up amazing -- and I have a dog who is allowed on it. Looks/feels same as when I got it.

    Thank you, Rosa! So helpful!
