Potential flooding issue for InSinkerator water filter?

Hi folks:

We moved into a new house with InSinkerator hot water dispenser installed. Yesterday we were surprised to find that the water filter was not installed. So we asked the builder to install the filter. But got turned down.

We'd like to have water filter in place, is there any alternative to put water filtration for this InSinkerator system? I do see reviews saying that if the filter was not replaced timely and properly, they do have a chance of breaking and caused flooding.

Never heard of a filter failing if it was not replaced "in a timely manner", my Insinkerator water filter has been in place for 13 years now and it hasn't leaked yet. ;-) Your links show filters with push-in barbed connectors, same as mine, if the mating tubing is cut clean and square, and then pushed in and fully seated in the connector, you should have no issues. It's a DIY project for most people.
